I am surprised by some of the teams people think the Nuggets will try to trade with. The Nuggets are officially blowing this thing up. That means they want extremely talented youth, players of short contracts and picks. They also will have to send Melo to a team he will be willing to sign a three year extension with otherwise, no one is going to want to trade for him to let him walk away.
Teams with stuff the Nuggets want they could realistically talk to:
Clippers - Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, picks
New Jersey - Derrick Favors, picks
Minnesota - Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love, Wesley Johnson, picks
Charlotte - Eric Dampier's expiring contract, picks
Washington - John Wall, picks
Sacramento - Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins, picks
Golden State - Stephen Curry, picks
Philiadelphia - Evan Turner, Jrue Holiday, picks
Out of those clubs, teams that Anthony would agree to go to:
Clippers
New Jersey
Philadelphia - big maybe
The Nuggets aren't sending Carmelo to the Lakers or the Rockets or Atlanta or Utah or Boston or Chicago or any other team that doesn't have a super young possibly emerging superstar and the possibility of high future draft picks that will be traded unprotected.
It's just not happening with those successful teams that have lower tier level stars and are good already. The Nuggets aren't taking back salary or low first round picks. That's not what you do when you blow things up.
And that might be about it.
