Antoine has dropped between 18 and 25 pounds as he continues to improve his conditioning under Louisville coach Rick Pitino's watch.

"He's definitely looking to go into training camp, but he knows it's not going to be a guaranteed contract," said Chico. "He's going to have to go in and make a team, and he understands that. That's where he is in terms of his conditioning. He knows he has to go in there and earn a spot. Nothing's going to be given to him regardless of what he's done in the past.

I think Antoine is cooked, but working out under Pitino is probably a good thing for him.  Say what you want about both Antoine and Pitino, but coming out of college Antoine was a very good player.

Totally agree, and Patino made him the fundamental player he was when he came out. Yes he had the flair but he had fundamentals as well and why not go back to your roots once you hit rock bottom?
Eitherway this is a win situation for 'Toine!

It's a win simply because he needs the money.  I will be very, very surprised if Antoine gets on an NBA team for next year.

We hear the same stuff every year.  He hasn't been good enough to play in the nba for a few years now.  I'm sure the Walker camp is exaggerating the number of teams that are interested in his services.

If he really lost all that weight that would be an encouraging sign.

I'm rooting for the guy.  I hope he catches on to a squad somewhere...and even though it's highly unlikely, what a story it would be if he could end up playing well.

Would really bring some excitement back to Fenway if we brought him back....

I loved watching Toine and Pierce play together for the Red Sox in my youth.

Chico estimates Antoine has dropped between 18 and 25 pounds as he continues to improve his conditioning under Louisville coach Rick Pitino's watch.

The question is, what's the starting point?  Dropping 18-25 pounds doesn't mean much when we don't know from what we're subtracting that from.

Hey Thomas Hamilton is looking to make a comeback too and just dropped 18-25 pounds!  Great, I bet he still weighs over 450lbs.  ;D

Seriously though, Pitino is known to run guys hard.  Probably one of the best situations for Toine to get back into top shape.  Would love to see Toine back in the league (just not for the C's, unless he's taking Donny's job).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Regardless of his weight, Antoine started losing his legs very early- he was already slowing down by age 27 or so.

I wish 'Toine the best. I have a ton of good memories about the man while he was here in Boston.

I just cannot forget the Wiggle and that improbable comeback in the playoffs against NJ several yrs ago.

I sure he's lost a step (or two), but if he can latch onto a team, I wish the best for him, like I'm sure we all do.

I hope everything works out for him.
