I don't think he has it in him to come back and be effective in the NBA but I wish him the best.  he loved being a Celtic and was always front-and-center with the media for the good times and bad times.

He was in the same draft as Ray (next pick actually) and I believe he's a year younger than Ray.  Under the best of circumstances, he might have 10 minutes to give a team that needs a power 3.

Why not? If he'll go for the vet. minimum, why not the C's try to sign him back. He's focused to get in shape, he'll be focused to be competitive again. Play back up for Pierce.

As long as it's for the vet. minimum. It'll be like the Shaq signing.

I loved watching Toine and Pierce play together for the Red Sox in my youth.

How a sports journalist can make such a error and not catch it when proof reading.. hillarious!

But on to the subject, yeah i do remember that time watching the Sox when they had Pierce and Walker good times.. just like when Milhouse batted 325 in the Majors.

Not really that surprising when you think about within the context of someones youth being the Twan and Pierce days.

"He said, 'I made a lot of mistakes,' " Walker, a former member of the Red Sox, said.

This is the line that everyone thinks is referring to Antoine as a former member of the Red Sox when in fact it is quoting Chico Walker who is paraphrasing Antoine.  Chico Walker is a former member of the Boston Red Sox.

Just wanted to clear the air.

Like the Shaq signing because Twan probably weighs the same, lol.

NO THANKS.  Will not be happening.  But lets bring back Gerald Green, seriously  :P

I have a feeling, IF there are 4-6 teams interested in Antoine, sadly I think it's teams that will want to bring Antoine in the camp to increase competition and motivate players on their roster that they actually have plans for.

He'll get released from the team saying they'd love to keep him but they just dont have the room for him, he was impressive and they wish him the best of luck somewhere else.

I dont care how great of shape Antoine is in, hes in his mid 30's and way past his prime, with way too many holes in his game.

Chico estimates Antoine has dropped between 18 and 25 pounds as he continues to improve his conditioning under Louisville coach Rick Pitino's watch.

The question is, what's the starting point?  Dropping 18-25 pounds doesn't mean much when we don't know from what we're subtracting that from.

Hey Thomas Hamilton is looking to make a comeback too and just dropped 18-25 pounds!  Great, I bet he still weighs over 450lbs.  ;D

Seriously though, Pitino is known to run guys hard.  Probably one of the best situations for Toine to get back into top shape.  Would love to see Toine back in the league (just not for the C's, unless he's taking Donny's job).

Hell of a idea I am all for him taking Donny's Job now that he is on NBA TV.

Wait... Donny Marshall left???

I don't get it.  I thought Toine was going on Trial in November for his legal situation?  You know...one that could land him in Jail for a significant amount of time?    ???

I wish him the best but I doubt he can crack a rotation on any NBA team.

Comeback Attempt Part 1  : Charlotte Bobcats

Quote
'Toine shimmying to Charlotte, but for how long?

By Marc Stein

Antoine Walker hasn’t had a job in the NBA for nearly 21 months.

He doesn’t have a known invite to an NBA training camp, either, with just two weeks to go before most teams are scheduled to assemble for Practice No. 1 of the new season.

But Walker does have a former college teammate and very close friend that plays for the Charlotte Bobcats, whose new owner isn’t just a living legend but another longtime Walker pal.

So it certainly made some sense when word reached Stein Line HQ on Sunday night that Toine is expected to arrive in Charlotte this week to stay with Bobcats center Nazr Mohammed, his buddy and fellow Kentucky Wildcat, and join in daily pickup games at the Bobcats’ facility leading up to the start of camp on Sept. 28.

Emphasis on some.

Despite Walker's Charlotte connections, one source close to the situation says that the three-time former All-Star has no assurances from the Bobcats that he’ll be extended an official opportunity to stay for camp and attempt to make their team, no matter how far he goes back with Bobcats boss Michael Jordan. It is not yet known whether Walker can score that invite with a successful tryout in Charlotte, after a recent Twitter posting from John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal hinting at that possibility.

It’s hard to see, frankly, how Walker could even fit with the Bobcats, given that his let-it-fly nature doesn’t exactly mesh with Larry Brown’s ever-conservative approach and with Charlotte already possessing so many players in Toine’s tweener size range: Gerald Wallace, Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw and Tyrus Thomas. Another fair question: Do the Bobcats, for all of Brown’s alleged restorative powers, really have room for another reclamation project after the recent signing of Kwame Brown and Friday’s news that Darius Miles will be invited to training camp on a non-guaranteed basis?

However …

The presumption in front-office circles is that Walker A) doesn’t have many options these days and B) doesn’t just long to make an NBA comeback but flat-out needs to land a steady job to start digging out of the considerable legal and financial woes that he openly termed “a disaster” in this chilling “Outside The Lines” piece by ESPN’s Mark Schwarz in March. So getting on the floor with other NBA players in an NBA team’s practice gym, by any means, only figures to help his cause.

It’s also worth noting that the recent claims by Walker’s uncle and former major leaguer Chico Walker – who told WEEI.com’s Jessica Camerato in August that Toine has lost 18 to 25 pounds this summer in workouts at the University of Louisville arranged by his former Kentucky coach Rick Pitino – have apparently not been exaggerated. Multiple witnesses who have seen Toine playing this month at Tim Grover’s gym in Chicago told ESPN.com over the weekend that Walker looks as fit as he has for some time.

So consider my curiosity piqued. Although we haven’t witnessed a rush of league execs backing Chico Walker’s claim that “four to six” NBA teams have expressed interest – after Toine lasted only eight games in the Puerto Rican league last season and then got criticized in the OTL piece by Guaynabo Mets general manager Marcelo Garcia for his conditioning and productivity – perhaps he is somehow closer to an NBA comeback than skeptics believe.

Initial attempts to reach Walker have been unsuccessful, but I have to admit that I’ve still got a stubborn soft spot for the guy, despite his well-worn flaws. So count me among those wanting to believe that Toine got more done in summer school than anyone imagines.

He would'nt accept a check from the celts. Ainge is a "snake", right? He also said we "still would'nt win s#it" if we got Oden did'nt he? While true, there was some bitterness there from Toine.I say let some other team bail him out.I'd personally love to see him end his career in a laker uniform. He can wear Kobe's old number eight.
