Well, whatever punishment is warranted, let it be. I just hope that MIA is at full strength come opening night.

Don't want any excuses.

I'm sensing some community service and "rehab" in Udonis' future.

::)

Guess we know now who Beasley was toking it with.

I hope he gets his punishment regardless of his status as a basketball player.

You break the law and get caught, then you pay your dues! regardless of who you are.

I'm not sure about the rehab--but definitely some community service.  Could be like Delonte, too, with all the messy court stuff pushed back to next summer.

Ha Ha Ha Ha!

It's all unraveling for Miami now!  Just kidding of course.

Personally, I think the stuff should just be decriminalized anyways.  That being said, as a professional athlete, you really should be a little smarter.

On a side note.  The C's should use this as a recruiting angle for potential FA's.  Something a long the lines of, come to Boston, it's only a ticket here, so feel free to smoke up.

Haslem is probably the player I respect the most on the Miami Circus.  I would have preferred someone someone else to get caught, preferrably one of their superstar clowns.

An NBA player smoking marijuana?  Say it ain't so! ;)

He'll get a slap on the wrist, presuming that he doesn't have a history of failed drug tests.
Roy, is that you?  what happened to the 'Hobbs' and multitude of posts?

This is one situation where a Haslem will be treated like everybody else and still get a slap on the wrist, I think.

I feel the same way about Haslem.  very respectable player until this incident.  would have loved to have seen him picked up by the c's at some point in his career.

None of us really 'know' any of the NBA players.  He's a nice backup 4 (not in BBDs league) hopefully it wasn't a Nate Newton amount and he gets a slap on the wrist.  I don't want any excuses for why Miami gets beat by the old Celtics.

If its the law that a slap on the wrists is what you get for being in posession of dope then that seems fair, im not against what he has done, he's hurting him self and no one else but my opinon matters little, i just find it disgusting that most athletes can allmost do what ever they please and get reduced sentences for it.

I actualy respect haslem alot for what he has been for the heat (loyal) and how he plays on the floor.

Since I'm from Holland, I'm pretty cool with the use of weed, pot, marijuana.

It's used to mellow out, not to pick you up. So what's the big deal, especially in the off season?

... oh right, it's illegal over there :')

since i'm from maine i'm pretty cool with the weed. more than pretty cool, actually ;D

Since this is a thread that can easily get out of hand, please remember our rules, everyone:

Marijuana isn't the worst thing in the world, but threads about drugs generally go nowhere good.

Roy there are two points I disagree with you on your post.
1) You would have to add the caveat that he will get treated like everyone else with the means to defend themselves. A lot of people whether its because they don't have proper education of the proper representation would end up with a longer sentence. (I could see this point starting a lengthy debate)
2) He won't get treated like everyone else with respect to his job. I don't know what percentage of jobs it actually is, but a very significant amount of people would flat out lose their job if they were caught with 20 grams of pot. A few years ago I worked in email and mobile marketing and my job really wasn't the typical job for being affected by marijuana. I was not operating machinary or responsible for anyone else's physical well being at the job or otherwise. You could even make an argument that pot would have "helped my creativity etc." Nonetheless I had to take a drug test and would have been fired if I was charged with marijuana posession. This was also in a very liberal city San Francisco.

With those two points, I'm not saying the consequences are deserved, but he definitely won't be treated like everyone else.
