The more I read about Durant, the more I love what he is about. He is obsessed with basketball and he really loves his teammates. I dont think he would ever leave but the team he plays for is not in great shape financially. IF something ever happened where they just couldnt sign players to compete, you would think Durant would want to move. Seems like we would have an inside track of sorts to sign him.
I think OKC's finances will be fine, especially considering that team is poised to get much better. KD has been improving every year and they have a ton of young talent. Westbrook was amazing at the end of last year. Jeff Green still needs to make a jump, but he's solid and has great potential. And Cole will be good for this team inside, I think he will develop into a Perk type. Maybe not as good, but similar. And they stockpile draft picks.
Kevin Durant is the torch bearer for the NBA. Russell, Magic, Bird, Jordan, KG, Duncan, Durant...
He has the rare combination of elite talent with a world class head on his shoulders. Down to earth kid who approaches the game with fire, class and character; those are the marks of the true superstar in the league.
You won't find "all" of those qualities in LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Kobe, Stoudemire, etc..
But you'll find them all in Durant.
At what point did Wade not conduct himself with fire, class or character?
Lots of stupid allegations came out about Wade around the time his divorce was filed. Lots of charges of drugs and promiscuity. If people don't think Wade has high character, it's likely due to that.
On the court and in interviews, he's always seemed like a class act.
Wade cheated on his wife didn't he?
SHe slung a lot of mud his way during the lead up to the divorce and then retracted it all when she had to prove it during the divorce.
I wouldn't be surprised if he did cheat on his wife. Turns out a lot of athletes do. Not saying its a good thing, but like Barkley I don't need my athletes to be perfect role models.
Awesome about Rondo. I've always admired Rondo's growing gift for the PG position and his "basketball IQ", but lately there has been a lot of praise and emphasis placed on this. Seems like he is earning that much respect, he must have come far. I am really happy to hear it, KD is more talented but with all Rondo's been through (Finals, playing with veterans like the Big Three) he has more knowledge of what these accomplishments take.
I think KD will be on his way to that eventually. And of course you'd love to see them play together some day but I think KD has a dynasty set up with Westrbook as his PG (no slouch, great player) and Rondo will see through this last run and be the centerpiece of the Celtics. Imagine a faster paced team with Rondo? I can't wait, though of course I'm excited for our last run with "The Big Three"
