I would have to say that, as of right now my favorite (Non-Celtic)is Derrick Rose! I feel that he's the best point guard in the NBA!

There is none greater than Bird. All others are pretenders. For those of you who did not get the privilege of growing up watching him live I feel for you.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade.  I'm just politely trying to point out that it may be time to find a new current Celtics favorite.

Larry Bird was the first to draw me to watch basketball. Bird is my favorite, followed closely by Paul Pierce.

Favorite non-Celtic is definatley Derrick Rose. Kid can flat out play. And he's one of a handful of players I've seen in person put people on skates and make the game look like it's being played on a playground somewhere not an NBA arena. The epitome of substance and style.

Favorite Celtic has to be Nate Robinson. Always loved the kids game and as a former Muggsey Bogues guy he was an immediate draw. When your a kid growing up it's hard not to root for the little guy. And for me I think that still holds true to some point. I always felt guilty rooting for Nate however because he was on the Knicks. But Danny changed all that and the rest is history. So ya I'm a big Nate guy. And everyone mark my words he's gonna have a breakout year this year so watch out.

A very close second is obviously Rondo. Love the kids passion and approach to the game his teammates and opponents. Nothing fazes the kid. He's absolutley fearless. Just gotta work on that shot and midrange game a little.

All time?   Tyus Edney

Current Celtic? Pierce and Rondo tie, with Rondo slowly taking over sole possession.

Non Celtics? I think I go with Melo. I hope he comes to NYC so i get to see him play more.

Favorite Player to watch play? Dirk. Does he ever miss? From anywhere? It seems whenever I watch him he shoots 110%

Honorable mentions... Birdman Anderson, Nash, Josh Smith.

#1 Paul Pierce

Honorable Mentions:
Grant Hill
Anfernee Hardaway
Allen Iverson
Ron Mercer
Tony Allen
Ricky Davis
Tracy McGrady
Steve Francis
Jason Williams (white one)

That is definitely a unique list of players, this is the "Could have, should have" list.  I expected some great things from Mercer and was excited by the way Pitino kept telling everyone he wouldn't take Mercer so he would be available at number 6.  Good offensive talent without an NBA three point shot and no defense.

  • A Celtic Fan
All time: Bird (too bad I only got to watch him in the tail end)
Present: Pierce (the smartest player in the NBA today, IMO)
Non-Celtic: Durant (what's not to like?)
