Who is your favorite NBA player of ALL time?

-Scout

"Favorite" ... so this is completely about personal bias, and not a discussion about who's the most talented, greatest ever, etc., (just wanted to preface that) ... for me, no question ... Larry Bird.
Times 2. I read drive when I was about 12 and have just always loved him...

definitely Bird for all time
Yup

Larry Bird is my all time favorite player that I watched through his career.

I became a Celtics fan in 1969 so caught the tail end of Bill Russell's career but Russ would have to be my second favorite all time.  I also love Loscy from all I have read about him and his career.

My all time favorite non Celtic player is Dr J.

My favorite current player, as everyone knows by now, is Perk!!

Pierce of course, but like most C's fans I'm really starting to like Rondo.

All-time, Bird, it was the right time in my life. I was TICKED when Michigan St. won the NCAA 'chip!

Honorable mention, Dr J, MJ, Andrew Toney

It's really hard not to go with Bird. The guy just did so many things well. The most impressive thing about him though was his ability to see the game unfold. There are so few players who can actually do that, at least to the extent that he could. When you combine that quality with the ability to score, rebound, and pass the way he could you have a very special player.

Beyond Bird and other C's players like McHale, I would have to say maybe Scottie Pippen. He reminded me of Bird in ways in his ability to dominate in so many different areas of the game. He wasn't as much of a cerebral player by any stetch but still he was one of the better individual defenders the league has seen in a while. I always said he was for several season the second best player in the game and while he benefitted greatly from playig with MJ it was certainly a reciprocal relationship.

Bird then McHale.

I was born in the late 70's and was not a huge basketball fan until the early 90's, so my favorite of all time is Reggie Lewis.

Bird was my favorite all time.  Currently I like Rondo best on our team, fiery defense, and super high basketball IQ sucked me in.  I tend not to like players outside the Celtics.

Cousy, then Silas (big surprise), then Bird, now Rondo....

Oops.  How could I forget Pistol Pete?  He is also one of my all time basketball heroes.  I have always felt sad that he didn't stay with the Celtics for one more season to get the ring he wanted so badly throughout his career.

Bird, Jordan, Wilkins, Ray Allen and yes Nate Robinson. and no I don't think he is as good as those other guys. Also (since I'm a huge Celtics fan) Reggie Lewis (RIP).
