He can always guard his own man," said Bucks coach Scott Skiles. "We can put him on bigger people and quicker guards. He's a guy who has a knack of keeping people in front of him.

"He's very good laterally. We're not afraid to put him on anybody."

When Rose started to attack Bucks rookie Brandon Jennings and scored seven straight Bulls points early in the fourth quarter Monday, Skiles switched Bell onto the Chicago star.

Rose scored just one basket in the final 10 minutes and had shots blocked by Bell and Andrew Bogut.

Either this means Bell's defense is better than advertised, or Jennings' is worse.

A little of both.

Terrible trade for Philly. Not a huge difference between Z and D at this point but giving up a borderline starter in Lee and a good rotation player for Bell (not a rotation player) and a meaningless pick.

Oops, I'm going backwards through the thread to catch up. I'd have to agree that Philadelphia paid too dearly for Dampier.

I will throw out there that Hansbrough still hasn't been cleared for contact eight months on from his concussion and bout of vertigo.

EDIT - Wait and that deal leaves Z as Sacramento's only center? The rare trade that I like for neither team.

He's one of the best defensive guards in the NBA -- probably as good as the more well-known Raja Bell

I've never heard this. Maybe Charlie is under the radar for me.
Charlie Bell is a good but unexceptional defender.

Bell is also a horrendous offensive player and abysmal rebounder.

Not a rotation worthy player.

Oof. Really laid him out. There is some upside. He's a nice second ball handler, makes good decisions. If he gets to the rim, he can finish. But, true, that he doesn't have much else in his arsenal. A 6'3 streak shooting SG who doesn't have 3 point range. I vastly prefer my Bell, Raja, on both ends of the floor.

He's got 3PT range.  He's a career 36.2% shooter (which is where he's been the past two years), and makes about 1.6 threes per 36 minutes.

Better than I recalled! Although that's right at the league average for a SG last season. And otherwise shooting 38% from the floor...

Will be interesting to see if he'll have a role in Golden State. Maybe playing alongside Monta?

I think that trade is about dead even.

Dampier and Ilgauskas is a wash at this point in their careers. I happen to agree with Roy that Bell is better than you guys are giving him credit. I would have to say that he and Lee are fairly even, possibly Lee is marginally better. But in getting 13.2 for Hansborough, I have to say that ultimately, Philly may have come ahead there because Hansborough's vertigo could make him useless next year.

All in all, fairly even and Sactown gets an extra player for their depth. I really don't see that either team got any worse or better in this deal, although, he might never play for them.

with the 30th pick of the 10th round, the thundah select avery bradley

Nice pick.  He can probably play NBA-level defense right now.

Thank Roy. You guys have no idea how mad my girlfriend is getting. We are on vacation and I keep sneaking away to tend to this draft. For this pick I went to the "bathroom" while she waited at the luggage carousel. Well the bags came much quicker than anticipated and she met me outside of the bathroom with four pieces of heavy luggage as I sauntered out of the door staring at my phone trying to get the pick in.

When she found out this was a "just for fun" fantasy draft she all but banned me from this site for the rest of the vacation.

She's napping right now.

GB -- i *DO* have some idea... my first CBD, 2008, coincided with me (a) getting a BlackBerry at work and (b) us visitng my gf's brother for the first time in Macon, GA...

I'm embarassed to say i was the same way -- sneaking away, etc. And she threatened to kill/breakup/ban me from CB, esp. when as you say she found out what it was all about.

It's hilarious to watch people's reactions when I try and explain what the Celticsblog draft is... the best name was an incredulous friend explaining to another friend.

"it's not fantasy, it's fake fantasy!... it's fake fantasy **** ****" (bad words starting with the same letters as fantasy taken out)

EDIT - Wait and that deal leaves Z as Sacramento's only center? The rare trade that I like for neither team.

Boozer, Bargnani, and Jeffries have all played a significant amount of center, so if this is the team Sacramento enters the season with, it would be fine.  It's likely, though, that further changes are in the works.

Also, aren't you the guy who had Anthony Randolph as his starting center last year? ;)

I somehow overlooked Bargnani and his presence in the lineup swings this trade soundly back in favor of Sacramento (in this one crank's opinion). Also, hadn't realized Boozer played so many minutes at center last season. Live and learn.

And, ha, yes - at least it left an impression! - but I was a year ahead of the positional revolution. This summer I could've started Randolph at SG.

EDIT - P.S. I have three centers this season, Hobbs, and a power forward that made the All Star team playing out of position. How's that?
