BTW, I just want to say that earlier I stated I thought it a bad idea for the league controlling the Kings to be making trades. While I think the decision to allow that is still up for debate and should be looked at after the season, I commend Roy for making trades that were fair and balanced and helped to keep the Kings viable while not unduly either ripping anyone off or sell off parts of the Kings.

Excellent job Roy. My decision to be against that was a bad one, in retrospect, though I think for future drafts, it should be looked at though maybe a contraction of teams will rectify such situations.

TPs to the commishes

Yeah, my only goal in that was to keep the league with 30 viable franchises.  The former owner of the Kings left his team, and it wasn't necessarily fair to the competitive balance of the league to have one "ghost" franchise.

I understand the potential concerns, but I think I tried to do everything above-board.

After the conclusion of the draft, we can talk about all the things that need to be done to make the draft better next year.  We can discuss the veto, and yes, I'm sure contraction will come up.
So what about CFF's team?

Doesn't he have like 5-6 picks to make?

What's happening with Dallas?

Candidly, I think the Commissioner's Office ran out of gas.  Faf and I both got pretty busy, and the momentum just wasn't there to piece back together another sinking franchise.

At some point, if the draft board gets cleared up, I can go about filling in his roster.

looking to mov JR Smith and Outlaw...Will considering moving everyone else not name bogut or Rondo on my team.

PM me ofers!!

Quote from: ESPN
Sam Amick of FanHouse reported Wednesday night that Denver guard J.R. Smith was involved in an altercation at the team's practice facility on Aug. 13.

"We did have a report of an altercation that took place at the Denver Nuggets' practice facility," said Detective John White of the Denver Police Department Wednesday. "That case was investigated and ultimately presented to the district attorney's office. ... Ultimately, the district attorney's office, after being presented with the findings by the Denver Police Department, decided not to pursue charges.

"We were called to that location about an incident possibly involving Mr. Smith. When we got there, the officers conducted their investigation. It did involve Mr. Smith."

Reportedly a player, not in the NBA, was told by Nuggets coaches to be rough with Smith during some drills.

"They were just wanting the guy to be physical with J.R., telling the other guys, 'Hey, body up on the guys and really make them work,' " a source told Amick. "J.R. just lost it. He tried to choke the kid, and the kid called the cops."

The Nuggets are shopping Smith and this likely won't help them find a taker for the troubled guard.

JR Smith is like the Lehman Brothers of this draft...he just keeps on dropping.

yea thanks IP for making it impossible to get rid of Smith now

I think Smith, rather than IP, is the one to blame here. ;)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Cue Apocalypse.

 ;D
LOL.

You know what though. The CB Draft is kind of like a game of pick up basketball with your buddies. Sometimes the games can get intense. Sometimes a knee or an elbow flies out that shouldn't have but in the end, you shake hands, give props, go have a beer and laugh and joke about it and stay friends so you can play again next time.

nick brings up a good point:  Dallas has become a ghost franchise itself, and the Commissioner's Office was supposed to be making picks for them.

So as to give people some time to sign free agents if they want to, please be on notice that the remaining picks for Dallas (five of them, I believe) will be made at 9:00pm tonight.

I don't know much about him but he doesn't sound like a player.

I know that he is not expected to make the Pacers roster. They like his athleticism at the four but they already have 15 players on their team. Larry Bird wasn't optimistic about him making the team when asked about it recently.

Okay, to fill out Dallas' roster, and to exhaust their remaining draft picks, the Commissioner's Office selects:

Rodney Carney
Sebastian Telfair
Eddy Curry
Dexter Pittman
Bobby Simmons

That leaves Dallas as:

C: Marcus Camby / Eddy Curry / Dexter Pittman
PF: Paul Millsap / David West
SF: Luol Deng / Charlie V. / Rodney Carney
SG: Gilbert Arenas / Allen Iverson / Bill Walker
PG: Andre Miller / Sebastian Telfair

EDIT: Dallas had one player too many, so they cut Bobby Simmons.

Basically I got busy at work, I had two meetings yesterday and also was assigned two new projects.

I'm just glad it was the second week of the draft! Press conferences will be next week, I'll be posting a schedule by tomorrow and we can go from there.

I read this:

Quote from: David Thorpe's Top 20 Summer League Players

#15, Magnum Rolle

Rolle was a long, tall bundle of energy all week. He made countless plays above the rim and challenged shooters in the paint on seemingly every shot. I liked the way he got some of his dunks by running rapidly to the rim when a crease opened.
