Boo, Kobe!

I think Wade at #5 may end up being the best pick in the entire draft.

I know I'm setting myself up for losing this popularity contest celticsblog draft by taking kobe over wade, but like I said, I'm sticking with drafting the best basketball players when available, not the most popular.  ;D

Then why didn't you draft Dwayne Wade?

A bit early for the big fundamental.

I somewhat agree, but I drafted him as part of a soon to be announced trade

PG: Chris Paul, Fred VanVleet
SG: Ray Allen, OG Anunoby, Zach Lavine
SF: Paul Pierce, Gordon Hayward
PF: Chris Bosh, Serge Ibaka, David West

Is the front board up to date?

I'm going to leave announcement of that trade up to the Commissioner, because personally, I would veto it.  It's atrocious value for the #6 pick.

He's really my #1b overall and if I ended up the #1 overall pick, I'd probably try to trade down so I didn't have to choose between him and Lebron.  My hatred for Lebron is on the level of many of your hatred for Kobe.

I thought Wade would go at #3 or #4.  I thought the top 4 players could go in any order of preference really of: kobe, lebron, wade, durant.  Then Dwight was one of my next 2 with another player who I won't name since he hasn't been drafted yet.
On this i have to disagree, you're the one buying into the popularity contest. Kobe is getting bye on hype at this point to some extent, he's the fifth best player in the NBA at best right now. (and I personally think he's somewhat lower than that)

I know it would make for a much more boring draft, but I think the "too early.... too late" kinda starts creating this (at times unfair) impression about given teams that can be hard to overcome

Remember as Lucky17's sig used to say: "It takes 5!" ..... and a whole team is 13 guys. There've been plenty of teams in Celticsblog draft that had a great star and a bad rest of the draft, and many that maybe "reached" but built a great team.

IMO, it's all about team, about fit, about UBUNTU!

The only hard and fast rule about this sort of thing is no discussing players who have yet to be taken.

Fit is in the eye of the beholder, and frankly there is no fit right now as people don't have their starting line up plotted out yet.

I passed on Dwyane strictly because I don't like the way he spells his name.

I agree with Roy H.

The proposed trade has been rejected by the league, the parties are free to negotiate a new trade. As it stands Tim Duncan has been taken 6th overall and we are waiting for the 7th pick.

celticinorlando missed his pick.  Gomesfan/crownsy may pick at any time.

The Commissioner's office will be announcing CIO's pick shortly.

An entirely reasonable position.

CP3 is the pick.
