Yeah I don't like that deal for Chicago.

Trading away an offensive talent like Amar'e for an meh upgrade at the C position and Brandon Jennings?

Especially when LeBron is going to be running the offense anyways.

My thoughts:

1) Amare/LeBron wasn't going to sell people anyways. We're not tough enough defensively...we're not something something else...

2) Not a huge Amare fan anyways.

3) Huge Noah fan. Huge. Noah doesn't seem to particularly like LeBron either. Noah doesn't like to lose. Noah is a guy I needed on my team to mitigate LeBron's own ego. Nobody on the Cavs, sans possibly Andersen Varejao looked like they were putting up a fight down the stretch against Boston. Noah is both more vocal and more talented than ANdersen Varejao.

More on Brandon Jennings when I figure this all out.
I think you listened to competitors and Roy Hobbs chirping too much. LeBron already proved he can win a ton without a number 2 option offensively, but not a title. Amar'e allowed you to say, too much talent to stop.

Now, you're going to a close replica of the real life cavs of the past two years. You were the favorite and now you're not.

In my defense, I was just teasing IP; I really did like the Lebron/Amare combination.  I don't think that that team was going to be the clear favorite due to depth concerns, but I think it was easily a top-tier contender.

I've had him on my board, but the more I think about him, look at his stats last season, and see the emergence of other younger pgs in the league, the more he kept slipping down my board.  I think I have anywhere between 2-6 pgs available that are in the same tier as him.

EDIT:  Solid value here, still a little uncertain about him though as he's been declining with age recently.

Yeah...I listened too much to people saying "You need depth, LeBron and Amare aren't enough..and something about defense!"

Turns out Amare and LeBron WERE enough, and apparently I've sabotaged my team.

Ah well, I've never come close to being a favorite in this thing anyways...now I get to build the team I want to, instead of the team I should.

But he will make a good backup/mentor to Wall.  That's the value we put in him.  Not to mention he bring a lot of winning team experience.

The defense thing I don't understand, most of your roster were pretty good defenders.

Anytime you can have LeBron just destroy his man on both ends it makes team scheme easier. Just don't play three big defensive liabilities in your top 7 like the real life Cavs did. (Mo Williams, Antwan Jamison, and Shaq)

I think my biggest issue with the trade (well, apart from trading Amare for Jennings) was that you wouldn't have really improved your depth much at all.  There's some value in moving up from 7.30 to 7.8, but not a ton.

But you're right, it's best not to take this game too seriously.  It's all about building a team full of players that you like.  Thus, why my Alternate Universe Sacramento Kings team that I've been building in the mods forum looks pretty dang similar to the Portland CrotoNats.
