I would gladly trade Davis for Rudy, but Davis doesn't have that kind of value

I give it a couple of weeks before someone starts a thread here trying to analogize Celtics Blog Internet Legend Rudy Fernandez to Larry Bird.

It's getting silly in here.

Trade Baby for Rudy? Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

If Fernandez has this type of "value", why does no-one want to take him off of the Blazers, given that he's available at a discount?

Glen Davis absolutely has that kind of value.

Upon Sheeds return. Do people remember the Celtics being 23-5 without him?

This post implies you want to trade BBD just to have him gone as opposed to actually wanting Rudy. : \

I feel like either the C's have moved on from Rudy or BBD's not on the table.

Dunno what the rumors entail... I assume the reason "nobody wants to take Fernandez" is because the Blazers are asking for too much.  That doesn't mean they turn around and trade him for pennies on the dollar and take a scrub like Davis.   It would be like if the Celtics were shopping Pierce and asking for LeBron in return... you don't just turn around and dump Pierce for James Posey just because nobody wants to give up LeBron level value.

Well that and the fact that there is a more than likely chance Fernandez will bolt for Europe after this season. He's already asked for a buyout so he can return to Spain.

Some people here think Davis walks on water and is the reason for the team's success.  I highly doubt Fernandez will get half of the over-the-top credit that Davis gets sometimes here.

People are looking to potentially trade Davis for Fernandez not b/c Fernandez is amazing, but b/c Fernandez could address our biggest bench need.

You're right.  If we traded Baby for Rudy, then Sheed comes back and we are all set.  That would be a fine hypothetical.

I think Baby is good, don't get me wrong, but yes he is not as key as people think.

The Cs biggest bench need right now is for some size on the wing, which Rudy doesn't help with at all.  The appeal of Rudy is that he might be good enough to be part of the core Boston rebuilds around when the New Big 3 era ends and that he might be gotten with a couple of non-guaranteed contracts and a 1st.

I don't see how trading Davis for Rudy works at all.

I'm pretty sure I read a post in the last few days claiming that Rudy could be a Ray Allen/Reggie Miller type of starting sg. It goes both ways.
