Upon Sheeds return. Do people remember the Celtics being 23-5 without him?

Sure, and people also remember a great playoff run with him.

I've heard players say that they want him to come back, but everything I've heard from the team seems to be very sure that he's retiring.

I thought the same thing myself.  Problem is I can not find a trade on Trade Checker that works to my liking.  Mind you, Celtics canot trade any of its newly signed players to make it work.  See for yourself,  Maybe you can come up with something ?

I hope Sheed's gone. I liked him last year in the playoffs, but in reality he'll just cause a log-jam of a front court. Too many players for two positions, in my opinion
Practice? Whatchu talkin about practice?

Baby for Rudy and their new guard Williams works. We would also throw in a pick.

I'd prefer to have BBD back, but if Rasheed doesn't retire, we're almost compelled to trade him.  We can't find minutes for 5+ big men, and we'd have a hole at backup SF that would still need to be filled.  Perhaps more importantly, it's unlikely that BBD would re-sign as a free agent if KG, J.O., Shaq, and Rasheed are all signed to two year deals.  BBD has made it clear in the past that he appreciates the financial aspect of the sport, and he's not going to be happy playing 10 - 15 minutes per game.

Williams was they're 1st round pick and they are supposedly high on him.  I dont think Portland does this.  Even if we throw our 1st round in there

I would still make the offer. They need more help in the PF position anyways.

How about this trade idea with Portland:

Perkins and Davis for Oden and Rudy

i think danny would make this trade but is portland ready to give up on oden?

I think Rudy is a pipe dream at this point, and I don't agree with trading Baby. Not that he's anything special and he will never be more than an effective role player, but I don't like giving up players with as much intangibles as BBD. Energy guys are hard to come by and oh so valuable to their team (see Varejo). Those types of guys come prepared for war. As much as I like Perk, I think he has been here long enough to have not really progressed in too many areas ie putting the ball on the floor before he goes up and God those annoying illegal screens every single game. His offense is totally stagnant. Defensively, yes, he's picked up Tibbs system well, but he is far from irreplaceable.

Pryzbilla will be back by the beginning of the year.

http://mikebarrettsblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/przybillas-new-perspective.html

I think we should trade Sheed, Gaffney, and Lafayette along with some picks (a 1st and 2nd) for Pryzbilla and Rudy.

Pryzbilla is an expiring deal and a quality big man that could provide depth for us in the playoffs ot possibly net us a quality wing player to back up Pierce at the deadline. Daniels could always be added in a deal like that at that point and some teams will need a quality big man bc it's not like other teams have the depth we do.

Don't trade Big Baby!!! Don't need too.

Big Baby shouldn't be traded for (Rudy). I'm sorry, I'm not sure which Rudy you're referencing; is it Rudy Gay, Rudy Fernandez or the Rudy from that movie about Notre Dame??

I'm not sure I'd do that deal.  I'd think about it, because when Perk gets back BBD COULD be bumped from the rotation and he COULD walk next year.

Still, both of those are big COULDs contingent on a lot of other things.

If a big 3 like Battier could be had, I'd deal Baby if that's Houston needed in return (I know the salaries don't work, but a deal with Baby).  With Rudy, he'd just be another 2.

I would totally trade Baby 4 Rudy Huxtable. Spanish Rudy, no way.

Is anyone worried about our fives being unable to defend the pick and roll?

Shaq, O'Neal, Sheed is a grisly combination out on the perimeter. And that's what we're probably looking at. Even if Perk is back, the part of his game that's gonna be problematic come the playoffs is his mobility, which is already only average.

I think you need Baby in your rotation because he can defend smaller centers (see Miami) and move more effectively on the court (showing and defending on pick and rolls) than the lumbering bigs we have at the five spot.
