I think Shaq had to be watching game seven and thinking he could have stopped Kobe.  I think he came to us for that reason alone.

Kobe played terrible in game 7 he got the David Stern/teammate bailout package.  It was the Refs, Gasol/Artest why we lost game 7 in that order not Kobe.

He meant Kobe as in the Lakers ( he is their team leader).

We lost because we got outrebounded by 13 and gave up 23 offensive boards... you can't win a game like that.  Shaq would of been enough to keep them off the boards.  The refs did not affect that game more than a 13 rebound differential and 23 offensive boards, that is just bad rebounding by us and lack of size due to Perk's injury.

Despite that, still would of won if Ray hit a couple of his open 3's, but that's besides the point.

True, I did not comprehend it fully stop Kobe...from winning another title.

I also agree with what you said, but I am not a homer in the least. I have to say the refs did have a big part of that game.  They called to many BS fouls to get us in the penalty and a bunch more BS fouls when we were in the penalty.

Were alot of those fouls legit yes, but some were so much  100% pure BS I thought the NBA had invented smell-o-vision,

Once camp starts I will finally let it go...

Your a better man than me, I won't let it go

same, im still bitter, we shouldve been 2010 champs and banner 18 shouldve been ours...

i had a dream that kobe got sniped in game 7 while taking a shot

I don't know why people still feel this way. We threw up a stinker in game 6 which Doc called our game 7. Did the celtics even show up? You can't play like that in even one game of a playoff series if you're going to be considered a championship team. Game 6 is why we lost. Not because of Perk not playing (Although he would have helped ALOT.) I see perks injury as karma for not playing like a team in game 6

FTA were equal at half time, then Stern called in the fix.  Our lads still almost prevailed but we played horrible in the fourth quarter, refs can't influence a game in basketball if you still execute you have a chance.  As posted above, we didn't board and we didn't score.  That combined with the charity stripe madness for the purple and gold team ruined us.

Sheed had nothing left at the end. He couldn't go to the paint anymore. His back was killing him. That was the big difference.

We didn't need boards. We needed him to continue his post moves.

Lol at this becoming a Finals discussion.  But we packed in game 6 because Perk was hurt and Sheed didn't have enough in the tank, I believe.  It was basically "Let's give in and put everything into Game 7"

It was risky, and didn't pay off.  But if they played out game 6 hard and lost Sheed would of had nothing at all for game 7.  And if Ray hit his shots we would of won... basically that was the risk we took.

Looks like Shaq made the first move :

In this era in which social media has become the norm rather than the exception to communicating, it was only fitting that this unlikely marriage between the Boston Celtics and Shaquille O'Neal kicked into high gear via text messages.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers was at the Orlando airport when a message with an 818 area code began buzzing at his hip.

The sender wanted to know if they could meet.

And Rivers' first thought?

"I texted him, 'Who the hell is this?'"

It was O'Neal.

Rivers, who had heard rumors prior about O'Neal being interested in Boston, still wasn't a believer.

He asked O'Neal what he wanted to talk about.

O'Neal told him it was about becoming a Celtic.

"I said, 'I'd love to,'" Rivers said.

Rivers, still not totally convinced of the intentions of O'Neal, told him he was at the airport.

O'Neal then responded that he could meet Rivers in a half hour, at Rivers' house.

"That's how aggressive he was," Rivers said.

Nice to learn that Shaq was that motivated to become a Celtic!

See, this is what Doc does, that I don't think too many other coaches have the balls (or the support of ownership and their GM) to do.

So Rivers did the only thing that made sense: tell him the unfiltered truth.

He talked about how O'Neal wouldn't be the centerpiece of the C's, a role he had thrived in with previous team. He told O'Neal that. despite being a 15-time All-Star and arguably the greatest big man of his era, there was a very good chance that when the C's opened the season and the starters would be introduced, he wouldn't be one of them.

"I was very honest, extremely honest," Rivers said. "I thought it was important to be honest with him, to get it out front so when the season starts, there are no issues."

O'Neal was asked about whether he could accept coming off the bench, a role no NBA team has ever asked him to play.

"If that's what it takes for us to win, that's fine with me," O'Neal said.

Added Rivers: "I think he embraces it."

Doc strikes me as a guy that's very open and honest with his players.  They seem to respond well to that.  He doesn't really sugarcoat things to his players, he seems to tell them stuff that they don't necessarily want to hear.  Put it all out on the table.

There's a reason that Doc is so widely respected, and that even guys he's benched (like Nate and Quis) seem to want to play for him.
