 "We recruited each other."
—Doc Rivers on his conversations with C Shaquille O'Neal in Florida.

Saw this on the Yahoo! Sports Celtics team page.

Looks like Doc goin home after the finals was a really good idea :P

Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

With reports that there were mixed feelings about Shaq in the front office, does this mean that Doc wanted Shaq and Ainge was opposed, but was willing to give in to his coach, especially if he could get the deal done for cheap?

That would explain why it took so long to get it done.

That's my guess too.

I don't see Danny being opposed to it ... I would think the objections would come from Wyc and other ownership/management staff.

The reported concerns were about Shaq disrupting team chemistry and not being a fit in the locker room.  That sounds like more of a thing that Ainge would be concerned with.

I think the only objection that would come from ownership would be about having to pay luxury tax on a big contract, which is clearly not the case here.

I think Shaq had to be watching game seven and thinking he could have stopped Kobe.  I think he came to us for that reason alone.

Kobe played terrible in game 7 he got the David Stern/teammate bailout package.  It was the Refs, Gasol/Artest why we lost game 7 in that order not Kobe.

I guess the dog days of summer affects reporters as well...Chris Mannix started that rumor about Shaq possibly becoming a locker room cancer. On Sports Night(live),when asked his thoughts about Shaq coming to Boston,he came up with all these different reasons why he might cause problems. He felt that he is saying all the right things now about playing time but will demand more once the season gets started.Went as far to say he will not settle for playing behind JO...went on to say he could cause team separation in the locker room by dragging guys like Baby and Nate into his corner.
I give Mannix credit for one thing, when he dream,he dreams big.

On Sportsnets.com Wyc said, qoute:"We sent Shaq home in an earlier round of the playoffs but if we had him in game 7,i think things would have turned out different".Sounds to me like the front office is glad we got Shaq.

He meant Kobe as in the Lakers ( he is their team leader).

We lost because we got outrebounded by 13 and gave up 23 offensive boards... you can't win a game like that.  Shaq would of been enough to keep them off the boards.  The refs did not affect that game more than a 13 rebound differential and 23 offensive boards, that is just bad rebounding by us and lack of size due to Perk's injury.

Despite that, still would of won if Ray hit a couple of his open 3's, but that's besides the point.

True, I did not comprehend it fully stop Kobe...from winning another title.

I also agree with what you said, but I am not a homer in the least. I have to say the refs did have a big part of that game.  They called to many BS fouls to get us in the penalty and a bunch more BS fouls when we were in the penalty.

Were alot of those fouls legit yes, but some were so much  100% pure BS I thought the NBA had invented smell-o-vision,

Once camp starts I will finally let it go...

I won't ever let it go either. My tombstone will read Boston Celtics the real 2010 World Champions.

I keep having reoccurring dreams that we won, when I wake up I feel like crap.
