I'm wondering specifically how JO and Shaq will help out Ray.

I've grown to appreciate Perk, but his offense is limited. He can score 1-on-1, he can kick the ball out, but he can't create for others.

Shaq (and JO) can create and should be able to command a double team or find an open man to keep moving the ball in our offense. If they can give Ray that extra half second in high pressure games that would be huge. Allowing Ray to pick his spots and not forcing him to rush can add a new wrinkle that would help everyone.

The presence of an actual offensive threat on the block - which Perkins never has been and likely never will be at this point - has to help.

How much? We'll just have to see.

He can NOT kick the ball out. The rest of the players should just head down the court once Perk catches the ball anywhere on the block.

And he is limited one-on-one. Sometimes his little baby-hook would fall, but usually nada. He has few post moves and nothing off the dribble. He's even pretty bad at going up with the rock when he is fed down low, often coming down and giving the D time to alter the shot.

I like Perk, but for his defense only.

Yes, Perkins does seem to turn the ball over quite often. He's not that bad once he's actually in the post, though I'd rather just have Shaq or JO for those situations and not have to worry about losing a possession.

Depends on how they are utilized.  If they are taking touches away from the Big 3 (all machines of offensive efficiency for the past couple years) they could be doing some damage to our offense.  If on the other hand, JO is catching the passes that Perk was fumbling out of bounds and reducing the starters' turnover problems by spacing the floor better, and Shaq is absorbing the shots that Sheed/Baby bricked last year than they could dramatically improve our offense.

It will probably be somewhere in between, but I'm hopeful that a season's worth of experimenting will push their impact into the solidly positive by the time playoffs come around.

they will both help the offense, i'm near certain of it. I'm worried about Shaq's D. I think Rasheed is a better defender than him. But as far as offense goes, i think they'll be a noticeable help.
