C'mon Danny! You could do it, Trade Sheed's contract for James Posey. :o

Posey is a very marginal player at this point, we can do better.

Is this an early addition to the Sunday Morning Comics? It would fit right next to Family Circus and King Arthur, two terrible comics that for some reason keep on running.

James Posey isn't walking through that door, and if he is he'll be old and gray

Solid players tend to look worse than they are on bad teams that rely on them to do more than role players should. It happened to Posey on the Heat which is why his value was so low when the Cs signed him.

He isnt known for his conditioning. And he is aging now. when he was with us he could barely slow down LBJ.  ::)

Ive noticed from the time Posey left there has been a large number of naysayers on CB aganist him.A lot of its been he's to old,slow,etc...i wonder how many games have the people who are aganist him have actaully watched him play in.I bet its been a handful by most.Im not advocating bringing him back at this time but my reasons are all different from most, its  more the financial part of it that might not be good for the franchise. If Danny saw a way to make it work without messing with the 2012 season then i wouldn't be opposed to it.

I've been saying this for several days now.

I think people on this board have unrealistically high expectations for what we can get for Rasheed Wallace.  Now I'm all for it if we can land someone better than Posey.  But I think it's looking more and more like that's not going to be the case.

And being that everyone's pining for a tall wing who can defend and hit the three, I don't see why Posey is such a bad idea.

Will he be everything that he was in '08?  Probably not.  However, with Wafer and Daniels here, he'll only be expected to play 15 mpg or so of backing up Pierce.

It really makes a lot of sense.  He probably isn't worth his salary; however, it might be the only way we get the big 3 we're looking for.  And if that's what helps us win #18, then it's worth it in my book.

And given New Orlean's financial position, we might be able to get them to chuck in something else with him (maybe a first rounder?).

I would rather have Julian Wright from the Hornets than Posey, at this point. That's how far Posey's game has deteriorated.

I saw him play the Celts last year. I thought Scal clearly outplayed him.

It's hard to gauge the value of Sheed's contract.  If the choice is between his retirement and Posey + some small asset (Quincy Pondexter) than I might go for it.  Posey's efficiency has tanked, but he can still spot-up at the 3-pt line, rebound and give a few cheap shots on D.
2016 CelticsBlog Draft: Chicago Bulls

Head Coach: Fred Hoiberg

Starters: Rubio, Danny Green, Durant, Markieff Morris, Capela
Bench: Sessions, Shumpert, G. Green, T. Booker, Frye
Deep Bench: CJ Watson, H. Thompson, P. Zipser, Papagiannis, Mejri

Posey for $2 million, yes.  ;)

Posey for $6.5 million, no.  :'(

Posey for $6.5 million *and* an unprotected 1st from NO, I think about it hard.  :-\

Letting Sheed retire and saving the money may even be a better move.

That's the tricky bit.  Absolutely would not trade Sheed for Pose, straight-up.  Doubt NO would throw in an unprotected first rounder, especially with Chris Paul wanting out (they could quickly become a bottom-5 team, if Paul left and they didn't get immediate help in return).

For Pose and a top-10 protected pick?  I'd probably do that.  Probably.

I guess I'm really pessimistic that we've got any chance at the real difference-maker types, the Tayshaun Princes and the Shane Battiers.  Guys on the block, but guys that are going to have multiple suitors (who have more to offer than just salary relief).  So, I'm not totally opposed to Pose but only if we can get something else back to help stockpile our future assets.
