I'd say one GLARING missing component here is TA, and TA's defense..there wasn't any Celtic scoring that was a good enough replacement for what TA did on defense to WADE, LEBRON, and others...and guess what...they didn't just go away..in fact, now they are on the same team...oh, we got MD instead....come on, dumb loss..MD, in his best game, was 1/5th TA...and he got TA's 3rd year money...i mean, that was so dumb. After what TA did in the PLAYOFFS, otherwise known as the ONLY TIME THAT MATTERS, Danny should have just signed him for 3-for-3 mill, and that would have been it. Then at least we would have had Rondo and TA, as young, fast guys.....you-all better hope someone steps up to fill his shoes, and please don't complain about TA's offense, we saw everyone of our players drop the ball (offense) during this playoffs, but TA's D was outstanding, and we  did NOT replace him at all.....when we could have kept him easy..Danny wanted to gamble with it instead, disrespecting TA still...I don't blame TA at all. But i wish he stayed, we needed him bad for next season...! I hope shaq takes this season seriously, and shows up in shape...!

TA will absloutely be missed. He wanted to leave though. From what I have read, we offered him the same contract Mem did.

I think we have added some great pieces that will mitigate that loss.

EVERYONE will hate me for this but Id trade Perk for Battier if Sheed is coming back. Hou probably wants a center and they are deep at the wing now. Its probably a good deal for them and much better for them long term than for us. HOWEVER, for two years we have

JO, Shaq, Sheed, Erden
KG, Baby, Harangody
PP, Battier, Quis
Ray, Wafer, Bradley
Rajon, Nate
Imho, that team RUNS AWAY with two titles and then we rebuild

no, then we will have no centers in the future

Sheed KG Shaq are not getting any younger, once they retire we will be without a center

That's if you consider Perkins a Center of future that couldn't be replaced.  I wouldn't have a problem with that trade and I like Perkins.. at 4m a year.

I feel that that trade causes us to be a near perfect team for two years... an older team but one with absurd depth and fine young players. Battier and PP and Quis get to guard the physical wings. I don't see any way that team doesn't run off two titles aside from injury disasters and we might overcome that too. We are going to basically implode after two more years and if i could do something now to make this team win for sure now to scarifice the future I would.

Note that if we keep our picks, we have a core of Rondo, Bradley, Baby, Nate, and picks and a ton of cap room to move forward with. So we don't even know if its bad to exchange perk for two titles right now. Just imho obviously

Our bench is awesome, and always will be as long as we have Danny to bring in almost-retired players. In 5 years we'll have Kobe replacing err... Someone on the wing. However, I think that Miami's best bench player will be, not Eddie but LeBron.
Of course that's just a matter of gamble. I take my chances with this scenario: They start off great, beat some teams in the beginning. Then they lose to Atlanta. Then they get shocked. After getting shocked, they lose again and start secretly blaming each others for the loss. Then after some time they lose more and it becomes an open fight about who's more selfish which results in LeBron getting the bench and Wade having the freedom to play like he did before and Bosh just regretting ever signing Miami in first place.

danny got the most bang for his buck this offseason.  everyone will salivate over pat riley for exec of the year, but danny thus far is in contention and maybe even a favorite for the award

Pat Riley got together a strong starting lineup

Danny Ainge got together a strong bench for our strong starters...

I think if the Celtics had 44 mil cap space this year, Danny would outdo Pat...

I'm not real sure why the Der would do it, but what about MoPete for Sheed.  I haven't seen Mo play in awhile, but I remember his Defense being good.  Maybe we throw in a draft pick?

Mo Peterson is finished as a rotation caliber player in the NBA.

Mo Pete can't play defense anymore (comparable to Finley).

The defense we lose from TA is easily made up by the offense that Shaq, Jermaine, and Wafer will bring.

Well, i wish that could be true..but that doesn't work in bball. defense is only replaced with defense.

I'd be surprised if MD can contribute anything...he is soft, looks lost out there often, got a concussion from running into a guys stomach...???  Almost impossible, unless his head is a mellon..he was always an "almost" almost scored, almost defended, looked like he could do it...never did..well, he will get his chance this year...I think TA left, because after all he proved, they still disrespcted him..not offering him 3 @2.5 right off like he wanted....md instead of TA  is a minus one, not a plus one...!

If MD can hold his own on defense, then in principle he is a better offensive player than TA, so perhaps we come out ahead.  ???

Well, any player can turn it around, md has the potential..but he didn't have any injuries in the beginning, and he really didn't show anything....someone said he has lower turnovers....well, i never saw him get the ball, make an aggressive move, no slashing, no steals, no rebounds....so, ya, he didn't take any chances, and he didn't turn the ball over, wow....worthless. TA made sure he was "IN IT" when he was out on the floor, and you knew it and saw him, people were down on him if and when he lost the ball, but no one applied the same crtieria to pp, kg, ray, rondo or perk, only TA, i saw everyone turn the ball over in critical possesions, pp with his stupid iso's, all of them doing something dumb, but all you'll hear was "TA turned it over"   maybe md can and will do it given more chances.....but we had the right guy, and danny just fumbled it.

TA was a key piece going into the new east coast league, someone that was known to stop the major players, his D would open up the O for our big guys..now they might just run us over, with our slow big guys never able to catch up....wade, come on, who is going to stop him, then he outlets to lebron......TA can stop wade, then we smother lebron, soon they will get frustrated and turn into individuals, that is what we wanted. so all we can do now is sit and wait, hope md can do what he didn't do b4. he is too hesitant.

In principle..?  on the floor, in real time is all that matters. MD crumbled in real time, then faked a head injury to dodge the heat. Get an easy paycheck. TA took the heat, wasn't afraid to make a mistake, and you could see him putting it all into it. He came back from a mojor injury, and you almost could see him healing, improving his game. He scored some great baskets, and energized our offense with his D, his dunks, and layups..we HAVE outside shooters, now who will slash for us...? In principle, i saw nothing from md, except his shadow on the court.
