If we get Shaq for the vet min. that opens a door of endless possibilities for Sheed's contract and acquiring a quality wing player.
I think Danny has known for a while that he had to really hone in on shoring up the front court and has been holding Sheed's deal to get the right front court player.
If Sheed is signing on for the minimum, we will have almost $10 million available cap space to trade for a wing player. That includes Sheeds trade kicker, plus Gaffney and Lafayette and potential draft picks.
I have a feeling that will produce some interesting trade conversations.
I think signing Wafer and Daniels are good low rent signings. Both have potential to be very serviceable players. Daniels knows our system and Wafer, should he return to form from Houston, will provide an excellent reserve for Ray.
However, with almost $10 mill. in cap relief, I have to think we can land a really nice player that will push either Daniels or Wafer down to the 11th man or 5th wing.
Any thoughts? I know we have talked about this topic a lot this summer, but I have to wonder if Danny has been keeping that on the back burner until he filled out the front court.
Outside of the S&T for Brewer with TA, we really haven't heard about the C's involved with a lot of wings, other than vet min guys. No real trade possibilities bandied around except for the widespread speculation here on CB.
When Shaq signs for the min, then I think DA will aggressively seek a trade that nets the Celtics a quality wing that will have us all very, very happy!!!!
