There are more, but of the remaining unrestricted free agents, here's the short list that Danny might consider.

I guess Shaq and Kwame top most people's list.  It's slim pickings after them.

Earl Barron.  Averaged nearly 12 points and 11 rebounds per game in a short stint with NY last year.  He's worthy of consideration.

Other guys:

DJ Mbenga - He's got size going for him, but I never saw much game.

Nazr Mohammed - Apparently this guy has no motor at all.

Etan Thomas - Not the most skilled guy, by any means, but he's tough, hard-nosed and could probably provide a good 10 minutes a game.

Other than those guys, I don't know who Danny might consider.

Here's a list of free agents:

We can also add Rasho Nesterovic (though there's talk he may go back to Europe) and Joe Smith (though he's more of a PF, still, he's 6-10, which is more than Baby).

Etan Thomas intrigues me a bit.  He makes Perk look polished offensively, but he's strong, rebounds, and blocks shots.  If the C's truly believe that Perk can at least backup Jermaine for 20 mpg by late winter, Etan could hold down the fort for half a year.

What sort of all star game are you talking about? There is no way he ever played in the NBA one....

Is Ike Diogo going be out of the league? That guy was a pretty high pick and always seemed to put up numbers when he was given minutes.
Some other pretty high recent picks on that list still acie law, morrison, rodney carney.

Earl Barron had a monster game aginst us last season. Might be worth to take a look at him as the last big for vet min.

Watch the "defense" the C's played against him that game, then permanently erase all memories of his epic performance in that game (and from his '09-'10 stats).  They way they were "defending" him, looked like he was a Make-A-Wish kid who wanted to play a little five-on-five before starting his chemo.

This probably isn't the most tasteful comparison...

I don't think Mohammed is a FA.  Hoopshype has him signed for $6.88M for 2010-2011.  We could trade sheed for him pretty much straight up but not sure why Charlotte would do that.

I think somebody will pickup Diogu and give him another shot. Likely on a partially guaranteed or non-guaranteed contract (training camp invite?).

He had microfracture surgery on his left knee last season. Missed the year. He has a long way back.

My bad.  It was Jamaal Magloire.  Mixed up my Kentucky centers.

Might be worth taking a chance on Ian Mahinmi. San Antonio gave up on him, but he's young and athletic and seven feet tall. So is Patrick O'Bryant, though...

Might as well add Fabricio Oberto to the list. Havent seen where the Wizards re-signed him yet. He is not a 20 mpg guy anymore, but for 10-12 mpg as a third string Center he would be an asset at the Vet Min.

After Shaq and Kwame, I would take Nesterovich if he stays in the U.S.

Mahinmi's got some great per minute numbers and would be an intriguing gamble...but he's under contract with Dallas, not a free agent.

I don't know much about Barron's background but he basically got a double double the last 7 games of the season and seemed pretty active in the couple games I saw.   If continued playing like that he wouldn't be a bad backup center.
