So why have so many teams dropped him so quickly?  Does he have serious attitude issues?  Are the C's on a rehab binge after succeeding with Nate?

What teams had dropped him? He was with the Rockets and then went to play overseas. He does have problems with his back, but hopefully he will be healthy for the season.

The guy is 1 season removed from averaging 10ppg in 20 minutes for Houston. He had major attitude problems which eventually cost him the NBA gig, let's see how he's going to work with the Cs.

Von Wafer was also with the Lakers, Nuggets and Blazers. All of whom dropped him for attitude issues.

A very selfish basketball player ... rubbed a lot of teams the wrong way because they wanted him to be more of a role player. Take a secondary role on the team whereas Von Wafer insisted on firing up shot attempt after shot attempt and slacking off on every defensive possession.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is an insurance signing in case we cannot get another wing that is more preferable...i.e Rudy.

I don't think this signals the end of the Rudy/Pryz for Sheed and filler+ future 1st rounder.

But it could, and if it does, a Big Shamrock siting in Boston could be on the Horizon.

Really? I didn't know about that. I guess that explains the 'he is one of the biggest chucker' comment I just read on another board.

Hmm anyways...I still hope he works out fine for us.

Well, I am delighted with this signing despite all those past issues ... because in Houston, on a veteran defensive orientated team, he shed a lot of his bad habits and played a team game.

Von Wafer was an effective role player down there. Boston offers a lot of the same attributes -- as Houston -- so I am very optimistic about him staying in line here.

He is not a certainty ... but he is a very good risk/reward signing as a fourth wing. Not a lot of pressure on him and Boston can easily replace his role if screws up again.

I agree with others in that this is a nice signing for the minimum, yet signing such a player in no way stops you from getting others, but is a low risk/decent reward in case you can't get another player.

Yeah, if Boston gets the same guy who played in Houston 2 years ago, this is the tremendous pickup.

Here's his stats from Greece:

Olympiacos Piraeus
Wafer joined the Greek Euroleague club Olympiacos Piraeus in August 2009, signing a two-year $10 million gross income contract.[14][15] He was then waived by Olympiacos in December of 2009.[16] Wafer shot 36.4% from the field and averaged 3.0 points per game and 1.3 rebounds per game in the Greek A1 League with Olympiacos.[17] In Euroleague play, he shot 50% from the field and averaged 7.7 points per game, 1.3 rebounds per game, and 1.0 assists per game.[18]

Given that the C's are expected to sign Harangody ...
Wafer’s signing brings the roster to 14 (including Sheed), leaving just one open slot. I don’t want to be alarmist, but Wafer’s signing tells me Boston ain’t gettin’ Rudy or West — Wafer’s the extra wing, and I presume that the last roster spot will be given to a big. But who knows? I guess Danny could still swing a trade involving Sheed that will bring back a big and another wing (Shaq and Parker/Moon? Rudy and Pryzbilla?). Based on the one season he got to play a lot -- '08-'09 with Houston -- did well offensively. Let's hope it continues.

At the vet minimum?  I mean, why the heck not?  Worth the gamble.
