I have always discounted the first five.  They werent won in LA.  You dont here Baltimore Ravens fans bragging about the Cleveland Browns championships. 

Or The Atlanta Braves bragging about the Mil. Braves World Series.  Or the Thunder bragging about the Supersonics title.

Then why are the majority of threads about Celtics v. Lakers on this forum so concerned about the fact that they're only one away now?  17-11 =/= 1...

I think this is bunk.  What about the Raiders?  Colts?  Both won championships in two cities.  Both recognize them all.

I'm not a Lakers fan.  I'm a realist.  Do me a favor and compare the difference between the results when you google "Lakers win their 16th championship" vs "Lakers win their 11th championship".  What do you see?

It's because those other 5 belong to the people of MINNESOTA who the Lakers Franchise won them 50 god**** years ago! Teams win championship for cities and the fanbase of those cities, that's the whole point of sports! You don't see the people of MINNESOTA celebrating when the Lakers win because that franchise now belongs to the city of LOS ANGELES. Hence why teams belong to cities in the first place!!

Honestly?

I hate them because they are so good, and have been our biggest threat over the years. No other team in history has challeneged our superiority as much as the Lakers, and no matter what people say, the team you hate the most is the one you fear the most.

They can never, and I mean NEVER, get as many championships as us, and whatever we have to do to prevent that, must be done without question.

The other stuff, like Kobe's sickening arrogance and ego, SV's attitude, Fish's dirty play, Jackson's air of superiority, Pau's llama face and nasty hair, Artest's moronic childish acts, their overly-obnoxious fans, those horrendous uniforms, endless flopping, the blatant preference from the league, all that stuff just adds to the hate and serves as additional excuses for the acrimony.

But the fact remains that they are our biggest threat, and in turn, that is why we hate them the most. Otherwise, they wouldn't be worth wasting the negative emotion on. Biggest competitor = biggest threat, biggest threat = biggest enemy, biggest enemy = most hatred.

Period.

PS - Lakers suck.

I lived in Brooklyn for a few years before moving out west, and I can tell you that there are still plenty of Dodgers fans there.

And by the logic of arenas, they shouldn't even have the 80s championship banners up because they won them in the Forum.

Also, cities don't own franchises (in most cases), rich people do.
