The Grizzlies still haven't signed first-round pick Xavier Henry to a rookie deal.

Henry sat out all of this month's Las Vegas Summer League.

Memphis has refused to offer Henry the maximum amount allowed, which equates to a 2010-11 salary of $2 million, without Henry agreeing to tie $300,000 of that to performance bonuses.

So, my arch-rival Chris Wallace is at it again. Here's a timeline for those who haven't been paying close attention to the most confounding team in the league.

First, Wallace signed their never-was-never-will-be an All Star small forward, restricted F.A. Rudy Gay to the sixth largest deal of the offseason - a five-year $82 million dollar contract - on the first day of free agency.

Second, Wallace declined to make a $3.7 million qualifying offer to restricted free-agent Ronnie Brewer - having just given up the team's 2011 first-round (likely lottery) pick to acquire him at the deadline.

Possibly because, third, Chris had decided he'd rather give that and more to our guy, Tony Allen. following T.A.'s first healthy campaign in three years.

Fourth, Watch as Brewer days later signs with the Bulls for nearly the same amount - $12.5 million over three years versus $10 million over three years.

And his final - and my personal favorite - flourish - inexplicably getting into a contract dispute with 12th pick, Xavier Henry by refusing to pay him the 120% of rookie scale that every other lottery pick has received - and that most likely all 27 of the other first round picks not drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies will receive... A sum that amounts to less than Rudy Gay will make in fifteen games.

My resume is in the mail.

I've listed you as my first reference.

I'm wondering, what would it take to take Henry off their hands? Maybe TA plus some picks? Do they have any bad contracts? Then we could possibly take one of those. I think this kid is worth it.

Next year the only players they have contracts for are Rudy Gay and Tony Allen.

They have player options on:
Thabeet, Mayo, Arthur, Young & Carroll

Qualifying option on:
Mike Conley Jr.

Unless they're interested in Baby, and I don't think we can afford to lose him, I'd say we haven't anything to offer.

Great original post -- particularly the part about 15 minutes of Rudy Gay. Sure, Chris... go ahead and alienate EVERY AGENT IN THE NBA over what amounts to 15 minutes of Rudy Gay chucking jumpers for a 41-41 team. TP.

Dang. Yeah it doesn't seem it is possible then. I wonder what deal Danny is pushing for that is delaying TA from signing.

I doubt Danny is even looking into it.

This team just gets older and older.

This is the same man that still got ripped off in the Pau Gasol trade even though Marc has developed into a quality big man.  So I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility for this man to simply give us the rights to Xavier with little compensation.  I bet if we signed Kedrick Brown from the Dleague and dangled him then Chris would bite, he seemed to have a special place in his heart for him.

S&T Scalabrine to Memphis. He can be the new Brian Cardinal down there. I'm sure Chris will love it as much as he did Kedrick.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Wonder if there can be some kind of 3-team-deal with Memphis and Cleveland...in which we can grab Henry and Shaq for TA and Sheed?

Henry would make a nice wing for us.

On a related note what happened to the CelticsBlog Draft? I am spending way too much time with my friends and family.
