Could you have ever imagined 15 years ago when the day would come that Shaq said he WANTED to play for the Celtics?

I'd get this done...  He wants to be here and there's no doubt that Shaq will do what needs to be done to make the dollar amount work.  We really need him...  He's limited now, but funny enough, he's probably better than Perk...

Another good thing if we sign Shaq, we'll probably get back in the prime time Christmas game slot.  They still love the Kobe/Shaq feud after all these years, I think that's enough to bump the Lakers/Heat matchup that the league will be sure to offer.

All we need is a guy outside dropping them passes on the low block and then let the two of them play.

He can sign for the minimum. He wants 8 million but he thinks he'll settle for around the MLE. Well since no team wants to use their MLE or sign and trade with him in the end he will sign for the min.

Hopefully it's with Boston.

Before the all star break everyone is getting 24 minutes a game, and with that kind of front court depth Doc will be able to give his big man random games off during the season to keep them fresh.

Lol, the Cavs would get absolutely steam-rolled! This would be the year after they defeated the Lakers twice and had the league's best regular season record/the league MVP on their team.

It would surely be ratings gold, especially if they interviewed Dan Gilbert before (or after) the game, however I'm not sure if Cavaliers fans would be able to handle that level of public humiliation -- some of their fans had threatened to jump off of a bridge if LeBron James left Cleveland so the NBA would just be throwing salt on scars that likely wouldn't even be close to healing yet, even by this year's Christmas.

Ahhh, the caveat!!!

This could be correct but if we sign Shaq to a one year vet minimum contract, my guess is next year, Shaq will be WAYYYYYYYYY better than Perk. Why? Shaq will be healthy and Perk may never be next year.

Perk's the better defensive player now, but Shaq's still good (just more limited because he's slower than Perk, not an easy thing to do).

Shaq's still a much better offensive player.  Perk's improved tremendously on this front, but he'll never be a guy you can just toss the ball into and know it's either two points or two foul shots.

Perk can play 30-35 MPG; Shaq can't.

Perk's the better player, but there's no reason whatsoever to not have both.  Even with all of their limitations, you don't get much more intimidating that KG / Perk / Shaq / Jermaine, plus Davis. 

Question, though; if Shaq DOES sign for the vet min, why here instead of Miami?  Miami has no real way to structure a S&T with Cleveland to give Shaq more $$.  Love to sign Shaq at the min, but not sure we're in the lead if the dollars are the same everywhere.

That he has a history of sulking when things aren't going his way? That he has no lift/athleticism/can't hit free throws? Yes, he can still rebound and occasionally score in the low post. He'd be a great big man to have for 15-20 minutes a game. But would he be happy with only playing that?

TP4U. And this is why I say he would be okay for the minimum because if any of the bad stuff starts coming out, release him. What do you lose?
