Hey guys,
Im a pretty avid golfer, usually get out once a week with some buddies.  Its been three weekends since i have been able to golf so i really want to get out, but the guys i normally play with cant make it.   This is going to be my first time playing alone most likely.  Any tips?

Do all the things you would want someone to do if they were paired with you.

I live to write the names of the people I don't know on my score card.  Nothing worse than getting 5 holes in and forgetting their name.

If you are paired with three others, I always play last.  Odds are the other 3 know each other and how they play.

If you play later in the day there is a chance you may not get paired with anyone and can go at your own pace.
"Coach you were 24 and 58 last year, why the playoff talk?"
"Well we made a couple of key trades . . . and we got The Funk."

1. play fast
2. don't spend time looking for lost balls
3. play fast

That's all I got.  I generally play with one other guy, so we often get paired up with others to form foursomes, and the only thing that drives me nuts is an incredibly slow player.

There is no problem with being crappy.  There is nothing you can do with that.  But if you are putting for a 7, and taking 2 minutes to read the break, you might have to duck a nine iron that "slipped" out of someones hand.

Thanks guys, Im anything but a slow player, and the place im going isnt nice enough to have greens that you really have to read.  But wish me luck, hopefully i dont get paired up with jerks.

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
try to play alone
I play alone ( with my caddie) all the time

Play fast is a good advice , also dont lose time (more than needed) with lost balls (always spend a minute or two in each ball, only in case)
enjoy the views.. thats one thing you usually dont do when youre playing with people.
Take your time before each hit.
good luck.

I miss glf myself, too much rain in here this season, theres simply no way to play in the club.

Once a CrotorNat always a CROTORNAT  2 times CB draft Champion 2009-2012

Nice to be back!

Agreed. If you're lucky enough to play by yourself (likely between noon and 2pm), get a cart and play 2 balls.

If you play with strangers, spend more time addressing the ball and less time looking for errant shots. Also, always play "ready" golf! Bushwhacking is for landscapers and trailblazers...
