Obviously, the S&T possibilities are endless, and many excellent ideas have been posted in other forums.

IF you had to choose, would you prefer a wing, like Josh Howard, Shane Battier straight up or a Corey Brewer or perhaps Xavier Henry (as part of a bigger deal)? OR

would you prefer the Celtics to sign and trade for a big, like Shaq?

Personally, I would prefer signing Howard and getting our big with the Vet. Minimum with a guy like Josh Boone, who is an excellent rebounder.

Thoughts?

Definitely a wing for me. I feel like a back up athletic wing with length, a la josh howard would be much more beneficial to this team than a 5th big man with the same talent level for the position would. Signing another center or power forward for the vet min is fine by me. Im more attracted to getting a 6th/7th man type at the 2/3 slot. I know we just signed Quis, but I like him more as a two guard.

Rondo/Nate
Ray/Quis/Bradley
Pierce/Sheed's Contract
KG/BBD/ Vet min Guy/Harangody
Perk/ Oneal/Edrih(SP?)

That gives us a pretty deep 14 man roster with room to add another player or keep a roster spot open for veterans mid season.

Preferably a wing but whatever position offers the most talent is fine by me.

I'm starting to think with all the trade exceptions and unused cap space floating around Sheed's contract is about as special as a former MTV Real World star in a dive bar in acopoco.

Has to be Best Available!!! Was talking to my friend today about CP3 likely going to Portland in a trade as so:

CP3 & Okafor to Portland
Aldridge, Fernandez, Bayless, Batum, and either Pryzbilla or Oden to New Orleans

This is likely the best deal New Orleans could make with a core of Aldridge, Collison, and Thornton to build around. Then David West could be used in a trade. Portland obviously would have Paul, Roy, Matthews, Okafor, and Camby as a fearsome starting five.

I then through out that since West would be likely on the block maybe the cap sensitive Hornets would like Big Baby and Sheed for David West... Big Baby is on a one year deal and is a former LSU tiger. He would be a hometown fan favorite. Sheed reduces their payroll by 6 million instantly.

My point is with the return of Quise we can afford to be patient and wait for the best avialble player to become available.

Personally if CP3 is available I see him being traded to the Blazers... Makes too much sense and I think Lamarcus Aldridge has to be involved.

Aldridge, Batum, Bayless and Oden for Chris Paul? Shouldn't the Hornets just ship him to Miami for Wade and James instead?

You wouldn't do that trade?! You get Okafor to replace Aldridge and you get arguably the best Pg in the league! A guy who instantly becomes your best player... Are you crazy? Do you really think NO can do better? If so please tell me.

CP3 would be their best player immediately and Okafor takes Aldridge's place. Yes he is a downgrade but a slight one and their contracts are similar. The rest of the guys are bench players.. Do you think NO can do better than Lamarcus Aldridge and those other pieces realistically? I mean they already have Collison so they don't need another PG. If you can think of a better deal for NO please reply and tell me. A realistic deal though. Not something like Carmelo for CP3 or Dwight Howard, etc.

Oden is not in that mix, but Pryzbilla in the last year of his contract is a steal for New Orleans anyways.

I don't think we could get both O'Neals in the same team without causing some kind of Universe structural issues... but I'd like Sheed for Shaq and Parker/Moon. I doubt Cleveland wants to trade with the Celtics, so we can forget about it.

Trading Sheed's contract to Minny in a three team trade with the Bucks would be even better:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=255c8rn

Sheed to Minny, Corey Brewer and Ersan Ilyasova to Boston

Sessions and Ryan Hollins to the Bucks, Delfino to Minny

It makes sense for Milwaukee and Boston, the Bucks lose two very good players but get a backup C and their beloved Sessions; the Celtics get a real backup PF and a great young defender at the wing. Minny does it because of financial relief and Delfino can start/backup at the SF beside Wesley Johnson. You never know.

Then, getting Ilyasova (a great rebounder) allows the C's to try to swap Harangody for Xavier Henry, by trading Shrek for Haddadi and Darrell Arthur.

After that, DA can trade the 2011 first round pick + Gaffney + Erden to Portland for Rudy Fernandez

It would result in this roster to get to training camp:

Rondo/Nate/Avery/Lafayette* waived
Ray/Rudy/Henry
Pierce/Brewer/Quis
KG/Ilyasova/Arthur
JO/Haddadi/Perk

with Avery and Xavier Henry playing with the rock lobsters, and Perk injured, the rotation could be

Rondo/Nate/Quis
Ray/Rudy/Quis
Pierce/Brewer/Quis
KG/Ilyasova/Arthur
JO/Haddadi

Not a bad rotation at all, and if the Celtics send cash to Minny in order to buyout Sheed, he could pull a PJ Brown in february. Arthur, Haddadi, Quis, Rudy and Brewer are all expirings, so Danny could work out some trades to make room for Sheed and/or improve the team at the trade deadline.

Yes, I like Shrek, but I'd rather have Ilyasova, and yes, there's about 0,005% chances all of these could happen, but wouldn't it be nice?

I don't have any creative trade ideas but I think we need another wing with 3 point range to put with Quisy or the floor is gonna get crowded with two wings baby and a big all trying to score in the lane all the time.

I am a best possible player guy.  (except a small PG.  Would never see the floor)

At this point, BPA is probably the right move.

Although what we really need is a very good wing.

Without creating some deal without any reasoning behind it, I think I would be OK with a simple move of picking up a wing player like McCants and Rasheed coming back.

Rondo/Nate
Ray/McCants/Bradley
Pierce/Daniels
KG/Baby
JO/'Sheed/Perk

We have our great starting lineup, a second-team that can put the ball in the hoop and defend, and SIZE. Who could match up with that size up front and scoring ability from the backcourt?

Of course, for all we know Shaq and CP3 could be on the team by training camp.

McCants is interesting but I think we need more of a forward (that can shoot)than a guard.   As I said last offseason.  Marquis is Ray's backup we still need a backup for Paul.

McCants is not interesting, Delonte West is  ;)

Rashanda McCants is a forward in the WNBA at 6'1, but her brother is listed at 6'4 (that's with shoes). In fact, he's 0,75" taller than Avery Bradley, so we better play Avery than McCants, at least the kid can play D and shoot the ball.

I'd rather have Joe Alexander: immature, overhyped, can jump... the same as McCants, only Joe's got size, and he's only 23.
