I voted no.

Unless the Celtics give him the beginning of the season off.  Then have him skip any back to back game.  Just keep him in shape for the playoffs.

I don't think he can physically and mentally make through another season.  His body is to beat up.

If his contract can be moved for a more impactful player, I am all for trading him and watching him retire.

However if nothing becomes available, I'd like to see him back.

So... yes and/or no.  ;D

I totally agree. Hopefully we can move his deal for Josh Howard or a package that nets one or two young pieces that fit our team.

Those are pretty much my thoughts, as well.

Posted this as a sidenote in the Marquis thread, but how long can we really wait on trading Sheed?  Do we have to trade him before the season starts?  If we don't, does he have to report or retire?  Or can he sit around until the trade deadline at home and on our payroll?  And even if that's possible, would Wyc pay him money to sit at home so we can trade him?

Why should we want him back since he already said he had enough?

Exactly (TP) ... his heart was barely in it as it was, can you imagine how apathetic he'd be if he was somehow convinced to return? No thanks.

You think he was lazy most of last season, what makes you think he will be better this one...if you didn't win, what does it matter if he played well in the playoffs? Its best to cut your ties while its 50/50.

I'm disappointed with his poor rebounding in the first quarter of game 7, think it cost us a big lead and then maybe the game, but I wouldn't mind a guy like him in the playoffs. My question becomes: Is Anthony Tolliver a guy like him? Tolliver can shoot and rebound, but can he defend and does he bring any intensity to the table. Maybe he just thrived off of the Warriors system. But I wouldn't mind adding him and trading Sheed's contract. And will his back hold up?

Well, I just get the impression that if he were to come back, he'd be a lot more productive in the regular season this time. People can change (TA).

I think that with Perk out, there would be a lot more of a sense of urgency with Sheed if he in fact came back.

I voted Yes. Out of the remaining Bigs out there, he is the most talented. Between him, KG, Glen and J.O, that would make for a pretty solid platoon of Bigs.

Yes.

I'd like to actually trade him, get a $7M player, Sheed retire, rest for about half a season, then let him join us for the playoffs (aka. PJ Brown). This way we get both a good player and we have Sheed 100% for when we really need him.

Precisely.  I'm about the same age as Sheed, and let me say that the drive to get in the gym does fade, and, so far at least, it is laughable that is comes back-for either of us.

I was thinking of a different yes or no. Have him come back and play 10-15 minutes a game until Perk is close to coming back, then have him retire and trade his contract. Win-win.

Exactly.  This could be the key to a successful offseason.

I voted yes, because I don't think we can get the kind of wing we all want with his contract....

And I think in the playoffs we'll be thanking our lucky stars (if he's healthy) he's on the team.

I want to ask this again, since I've only gotten one answer and it seems uncertain.  What exactly is the timetable on Rasheed?  If he doesn't report to camp in the Fall, does he have to retire?  Exactly how much time do we have to trade him?

Even if he is allowed to sit at home, I wonder if the C's will be happy about paying him millions to sit on his butt. Furthermore, the later we wait to trade him, the less the team who eventually gets him will save (as contracts work on a prorated basis for traded players).
