What do people think about the kid from Harvard? He's 6'3", 200lbs can get anywhere on the court whenever he wants and is a good shooter and finisher. He's smart on the court and I think he can eventually be solid in the league.

He's a poor defender and needs better vision to be a PG. He's too small to be a 2 and his release is too slow. But I think he has that "it" factor. Plus he's a local guy. Is he worth a slot on our D-League team?

You know a few things of him but missed he signed? it's even on nba.com

nba.com headlines:
'Warriors sign undrafted free agent Jeremy Lin'
Dutch Celtics Pride

yeh he made a name for himself (so proud of a fellow asian), hes consistent in the summer league, i guess what made him special and his name out there was challenging John Wall, i believe he scored 12 points off the bench that game

He's actually a pretty good defender.  He moves his feet well and gets a lot of steals from the weak side. I watched him play at Harvard once and I thought he played similar to Delonte West.  Both are about the same height and not super athletic, but can get to the hoop with a quick first step.  He shoots the ball kind of like him as well, not a very quick release, but has distance. They are both hard-nosed players and don't back down to bigger players.

I liked what I saw of him in the Summer league.  I think he has a chance to eventually play in the league, but obviously we need to see what he can do against real NBA talent.

Yeah definitely, Im glad to see a fellow asian holding it down in the NBA. Especially in that Mavs vs Wiz game, when he killed John Wall.

Yeah, some fan from the Warrior's blog said that the only reason why he was signed was because he is Asian. I told him I 100% disagree.

well, the kid definitely has the potential there. the difference, though, is that people NOTICE him more because he's asian.

so in a sense, yeah, he got drafted over maybe 2 or 3 other guys of equal talent because he's asian. but hey, aint nothing wrong with getting noticed for whatever reason when you have the skills to back it up

i'm not sure if you're addressing this question to me, but i'll go ahead and answer anyway. first, it's certainly a non-issue as far as i'm concerned, and a non-issue for the vast majority of people out there.

all i was saying in my post is that being asian probably helped him get an offer. not in the sense that he was signed BECAUSE he was asian, but simply because he attracted more attention and curiosity than the average player. if he wasn't any good that attention wouldn't matter, of course. but coaches took a much closer look after that john wall game and realized he's pretty [dang] good, and not just some ivy league scrub. would he have gotten that much attention had he not been asian? well let's just say he's probably not the only point guard that's put up 12 points on john wall and played some pretty good D on him.

Actually from a marketing standpoint, his Asian heritage offers a lot of appeal in Frisco.  Think Scal's red hair didn't go over well in Boston?  Think LeBron's Ohio roots had nothing to do with his insane (used-to-be) popularity there?  Was there a reason Yi's camp discouraged him being drafted by a team in the middle of the country?  When the NBA first started out they even had "territorial" drafts until the system was revised in 1966.
