The Westbrook comparison doesn't fit. The only thing they have in common is size and Athleticism. Westbrook is a slasher and Bradley is jumpshooter, I think a poor man's Ellis fits better.

I thought the whole knock on Bradley was that he couldn't shoot? His highlights are all dunks and slashing plays:

Typical of highlights shooting isn't as impressive as Dunk to most. He didn't do well from the free throw line, but he's money just about every where on the floor. He hasn't taken that many 3s in College, but for the ones he's taken he's shot a very decent clip(37% from what I remember). The people who say he can't shoot are just looking at the free-throw percentage. His jumper is his biggest strength offensively.

I think it's a little silly to try to compare a 19th pick that hasn't played a game in the NBA yet to a 25 ppg scorer and one of the best (and most athletic) young pgs in the league.

We should be happy if Avery turns out to be Tony Allen with a more reliable jumpshot.  That would be a steal at #19.

Let's rephrase the question.  What should Avery Bradley aspire to be: the next Russell Westbrook, the next Monta Ellis, or the rich man's Tony Allen?

I'm not claiming that Bradley will turn out to be as good as Westbrook or Ellis, I'm just wondering which direction he is best suited for.
He should aspire to be good enough to get consistent minutes.

Monta Ellis with superior D. He can stop on a dime like Ellis and make that pull up or fade away J. He also can take the ball into the paint. Can't wait to see him. 6'7" wingspan and lightning quick, so he'll be able to handle most 2s and he's not afarid to body up on players. D and transition will be his tickets into the rotation, but his scoring skills will take him to the next level (starter).

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Someone already called comparing a player that hasnt played 1 NBA game with 2 players that have played in the NBA a silly comparison, so I will not be redundant
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

How can we compare him/or say who he's like if he never played an NBA game

I think you might be into something. Both played college ball. Both were drafted in the 1st round.......

What if he is Michael Jordan

At his best he'll be Antonio Daniels when he was at his best.  At his worst he'll be Antonio Daniels when he was at his worst.

I think his career will be on par with Antonio Daniels.

Their should be a neither option because Avery Bradley will never be as good as either Westbrook or Ellis.

In looking at internet postings about the Celtics' first-round draft pick, Avery Bradley, there are two NBA players who he is compared to when describing his upside.

Some say that Bradley is a point guard and has the tools to become a PG with a game similar to Russell Westbrook.  Others say that Bradley is an under-sized shooting guard whose best-case scenario is turning into something like Monta Ellis with worse offense and better defense.

So, who is a better comparison for Bradley's talents, Westbrook or Ellis?

So wouldn't he be nothing like Monta?

From what I have read, he is already great defensively, and will get even better as he gets stronger. He has a nice mid-range jumpshot, and a good handle which should enable him to drive once he gets stronger. I wouldn't put too much pressure on him to produce this season, but give a year with NBA strength and conditioning coaches, and he will be NBA talent with an NBA body.
