Since 2012 is the year when the C's will get all the cap space. Do you think Danny would ever consider pairing Chris Paul and Rondo together as Paul would be the biggest free agent out there? I am curious what people think about this.

No.  It is one or the other.  Neither are at their best playing SG.  Offensively or defensively.

Would never happen. Not only would it not make any sense because both are pure point guards but neither guy likes each other. It would be a disaster.

You'd sign CP3 and trade Rondo if he was your FA acquisition.

True, but let's face it, paul would not sign here if Rondo still in the fold.

Thanks for the input. I know Danny's is hinging a lot on rebuilding in 2012 but that free agent pool doesn't look anything like this years. It is really Melo and Chris Paul. So if you are going to pull of a Lebron, Wade, Bosh type thing you are looking at adding Chris Paul and Melo and the rest are just average. (see list) Really the next best are all point guards Derrick Rose, Westbrook.

Too bad he isn't a free agent. I just looked again and Brook Lopez is on the list and that is about the best free agent big man at this time. So 2 of 3 of Chris Paul, Melo or Brook Lopez would be our big 3 paired with Rondo. I guess you probably trade Rondo (with filler) for Howard and sign Chris Paul & Melo...

Chris Paul?  No.  Don't need two star PGs.

I would not be surprised to see Dwight sign an extension.  I don't see him leaving Orlando.

Carmello on the other hand would be the perfect player to add.  Successor to Pierce.  The guy is the best pure and versatile offensive player in the league and he has become a solid rebounder and defender as well.  He's one of my favorite players, if he played in the Green uni I would die.  Make it happen!

What are you talking about Howard is a free-agent in 2012 and Carmelo is a free-agent next year, we still won't have any cap space to get Melo next year.

I say yes, simply because the class of 2012 doesn't look to be especially strong.  If it's Paul or some borderline star, you take Paul every time and worry about positions later.

The fact of the matter is that we while we can say "neither plays well at the 2" we don't know how the two of them would play together.

Sign him, try it out, and then trade one of them if it doesn't work.

Don't see it happening though.

We will have a number of contracts with 1 year left.  Maybe they can be turned into something if it seems like a better idea to make a trade rather then continuing with the Big Three core.

No doubt. I just hope he wants to get out of Orlando.
