Maybe some of you heard it this morning on WEEI Boston.  I didn't catch it all.  Not exactly earth-shattering news, but he said Ray had a serious thigh bruise after Game 3 of the Finals and Paul was nuring some kinks as well.  He also said KG wasn't back to his strength training routine until the playoffs and JO was injured as well.  Again, none of this is really new, but his point was that he felt the team should be better this season since the key players should be in better shape.  I did not hear him mention Perk.

A few other snippets:
- He thinks JO is an upgrade from Rasheed (who is definitely retiring).
- He hasn't closed the door on Shaq but thinks it is "unlikely".
- He still wants another big and wing player(s) to "back up Paul and Ray".
- The issue with TA leaving was less playing time than he's likely to get in Memphis.
- He thought both LeBron and Gilbert were inappropriate.

It was Dennis & Callahan interviewing, so I don't think it's whatever may have been airplayed during the Big Show.  Anyone else hear this one?

At least Paul and Ray didn't use their minor injuries as excuses like JO did.

Is any player 100% during the playoffs?

Kobe's finger was on the verge of falling off (at least that's what the media would like us all to think) and Bynum played on one leg.
And do mental problems count? If so, Odom was definitely playing injured.

My point, most players have nicks and bruises that late in the year. So I think the playoff field is more level in that respect.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

JO didn't use it as an excuse.  He never said a word throughout and after the playoffs.  I believe it was only mention when he was asked about it.  I think it was Wade who first revealed JO's injury after the playoffs.

Yeah you didn't hear him mention it until asked.  That's honesty, not excuses.  And I definitely heard about Ray's possible injury after the Finals. Still don't know if that entitles you to be completely unable to hit an open 3... but oh well.

If Ray Allen had a thigh bruise, and it was affecting him ENORMOUSLY in his shooting, then maybe the Celtics should have put a healthy player in instead!  Why not Tony?  Why not anyone?  I'm still mad about that..

Me too.  I think that's a big factor in Tony leaving.  He wanted a bigger role and Doc didn't even see fit to use him in game 7 to try to help win a championship, after he had been playing well too. Instead he ran an aging, ailing and slumping Ray into the ground! >:(

By playing well you mean standing around the perimeter on offense and turning the ball over because the Lakers weren't guarding you?

Tony played very well on one end in the finals, as for the rest yuck.

All you guys crying for Tony... Tony Allen we're talking here right?  You can't start Tony the Turnover Allen in the Finals Game 7, sorry.  Ray couldn't hit a three but he played well otherwise, on defense and his offense besides his three shooting was good.  Tony does not win us that game.  We get worse if he plays more minutes.

We only lost because Perk was hurt.  Case closed. I mean, Ray hitting a three or two changes the game up but the clearest thing to point to is the Perk injury.  He would have kept Bynum/Gasol off the boards.

Yup.  Ainge also said that the Celtics played their best defensive game of the season in Game 7 (holding the Lakers to 34% from the field).  Ray was a big part of that.

If only we could have played some D on those free throws  ::)

I think defensive rebounding is part of defense.

We didn't play our best game of the year because of that....

I actually think Nate should have gotten more burn then anyone else who hardly did in game 7.  But that is just my opinion.

It is also my opinion that our poor performance in game 6 of this years finals was one of the major reasons...we will be not putting up banner 18 on opening night.

To not win the game is one thing but to look and play so poor in that situation...I could write a novel on my feelings about that game without even talking about game 7.
