you forgot to mention the part where Pierce said: "but I trust Danny"

Here's what Chris Forbes has to say about this...

Quote
Pierce clearly thinks C's should be making more impact moves after he took a discount. But not sure he understands how limited the team is.

not sure he understands how limited this team is. clearly the TA departure threw this offseason on tilt a bit.

Quote
as Pierce noted, "slim pickings" out there, especially those willing for minimum. so, yeah, wordaapp. even if it wasn't Plan A.

I agree with Chris that Paul doesn't know how limited the team, that Paul is upset with TA and upset about what he sees going around in free agency with the other teams.

you forgot to mention the part where Pierce said: "but I trust Danny"

This is probably the most important part of it all. TP hpantazo.

Im kind of surprised Pierce made those comments, and Danny can't be super pleased to see that. There are lot of players that are still unsigned and there are also a lot of players that will be traded. I am glad we didn't just go nuts and trade Rasheed's contract for Drew Gooden.

I'm not following he says we need some backups that appears to be pretty logical.  The whole twitter thing is dumb but, I still don't get what people find surprising about those comments.
Well how I view it is Danny just signed Pierce to a nice guaranteed 4 contract. Then he went out and signed his good friend and other star player 20 million for two years. He immediately went out and got arguably the best guy available for the mid level exception (definitely one of the players that fills a huge need). Now we lose a player, who according to danny, was made the same offer and Pierce feels the need to point out our weaknesses and say our rival is looking better then us? I don't see the point of doing that? If anything Pierce could be out like Lebron and other players and trying to recruit people to boston to fill these needs. Not lamenting the fact that we haven't signed more people.

if pierce is so upset that we aren't making moves, maybe he shouldn't have done a 'MAX' contract and left a little more on the table. Maybe then we could offer more FAs more $$$

Yea pierce could have signed for 12 instead of the 16 he is getting this season. Ray could have signed for 8 instead of 10. I think that would put us back below the cap.

He did not sign a "MAX" contract, he took a hometown discount.  Remember he is in the same draft class as Dirk.  Take a look @ Dirk's contract compared to Pierce's.

Does Pierce even have a clue as to how the CBA works?  He said that the JO signing was a good one.  Well Paul, after that, all the only free agent signings the team can do is for the vet min (excluding Nate, Scal, etc.).  What "good players falling to other teams" are there that signed for the vet min?

Exactly what I was thinking.  Shave a little off that contract and sure, we'll add another player or two...or three.

Only in Boston can people complain about resigning Pierce, Allen, and getting Jermaine O'neal to boot.  You kept most of the Eastern Conf Champions together, and added O'neal.

Thats a helluva offseason, btw.

So what, you lost Tony Allen.  I don't see why Danny can't go out and get another one of those.  Hell, I'm not so sure you'll even miss a Tony Allen with Avery Bradley on board.  His fastbreak game might be better than Tony's, and the defense might be there to boot.  Who knows what you have in him yet.  Talent is surely there.  Lets see how it meshes.

You don't know that he's not (see Jermaine Oneal).  IMO he's not as idi0tic as someone like Chris Bosh putting exactly how he feels in his twitter. I feel like some are extrapolating (ie being nervous about Miami..) I could just as easily say he was saying the thing most people are thinking.  Showing respect in a way.  Also obviously he got paid so I doubt seriously he's unhappy.  Anxious maybe which would be logical.  But too each his own.

Your title is bit off.

Yeah I too was unsure of the way it sounded when I posted it, but I was busy w/ something so I didn't bother changing in it.

Anyways I have changed it now.

Maybe its just me, but I don't see anything wrong with what Paul said. We have quite a few holes and no real answers as of yet. Right now, we're in direct competition with Miami for vet minimum players - and they're all clamoring to take their talents to South Beach.

And for everyone who keeps saying Avery Bradley can replace TA, he's about 15-20 lbs away from being able to take a stab at guarding the guys TA did this past postseason.

Thank you for not thinking I was being overly critical.  TP for the tweets and the change in title, very cool.

There is no way the C's beat Miami without a legit backup 2 and 3 whom can defend DWade and LeBron and take some of the load off Pierce and Allen so they can be productive offensively, especially in the 4th quarters. If DA doesn't solve this problem, these next two years are just be competitive bridge years until 2012 when we can sign a big-time Free Agent. The Heat could sign Brian Scalabrine, have him play all 48 minutes, all 82 games plus the playoffs at Center (even though he's a Power Forward) and still beat us with the rosters as currently constituted.

Pierce is not yet satisfied. I would not say that he is "not happy". It is too early.

Of course, this is obvious since we don't have a single legit backup at the 1, 2 or 3.
