Hey guys I thought this was an interesting read. Could he be a possible option for a small contract?  Here's the link yall, take a look.

This parapgraph stood out to me the most.

"This year, Coby is mastering it, averaging 14 points on just 6.8 shot attempts per game. When he gets the ball, there are no wasted motions. He doesn't need three seconds to gather himself and make a move. He just makes it."

I would definitely bring in Karl on a minimum contract.  He plays above average defense and has a decent basketball iq.  I don't care what he is doing on the offensive end as much as long has he can knock down the open jumper.

The one thing about the NBA is that if you're good, you'll usually make it.

So the whole story with most could-have-been players is that, really, they're not good enough. Unfortunately, that's likely true about Coby Carl as well.

I've always liked Coby Karl.

He would be a nice fifth wing in the depth chart. A well rounded player.

Sounds like everything we need, sounds ideal, but at the NBA level we would have to see how he would flourish.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I think his spot on the Denver roster was more out of respect for what his dad was facing with cancer than for Coby's basketball skills.  I know that has been refuted publicly, but I don't believe it.

He's not very good...  As stated above, if he were he would have signed by now (even Kleiza got a contract offer that he accepted from the Raptors).

Pass...

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
This about sums it up on Karl I think:

Quote from: ESPN
Rob Mahoney on Denver's Coby Karl: "There's no real reason why Coby Karl wouldn't be able to compete on an NBA level, yet somehow, under guise of flawed skills and limited athleticism, he's doomed to the horrid middle ground between D-League stud and NBA role player. It's not a fun place to be, but there are so many capable wings that can technically do what Karl does. They just don't. Coby has the right skills and makes the right plays, with the perfect package for a complementary player. He doesn't step outside of himself and makes excellent decisions. For a guy vying for a spot on the back end of an NBA roster, that's huge."
