Once Phoenix decided they could not guarantee Stoudemire more than 3 years - a fair decision given his injury history ... their offseason has actually been fairly prudent.
1. Hakim Warrick at a good price - obviously no Stoudemire, but does some of the same things on offense. He is a good pick and roll fit.
2. Childress for nothing - the deal is too long, but Childress has some poor man's Shawn Marion components to his game. Ugly shot, but he makes them frequently. Very high efficiency player and good defender.
3. Frye at a reasonable price. He's limited, but the things he does well fit the Suns perfectly.
I am not sure if the Turkoglu trade is on given that Charlotte did not hold up its end of the flip. That deal is a bit weirder.
Really the Suns still have their exceptional depth. They do drop off from last year - but still a playoff team in the West. Absolutely.
Dudley for Davis is silly - they are equal as players, but they play different positions. We need a good wing defender/shooter and Dudley can offer that. However, not at the expense of our already thin front court, especially when things clicked with Davis - he has shown he might be ready to be a consistent force finally.
