I don't get it... if you are going to trade for an overpaid Turkoglu, why not just resign STAT.

So their depth chart looks like this now:

Nash / Dragic
Richardson / Childress
Hill / Turkoglu / Dudley
Warrick / Clark
Frye / Lopez

Seems like they need to make another move - they are too deep at the guards / wings in general, and not enough shooting (especially catch and shoot guys.) They also got smaller on the front line, an area they were hurting in (although they have good size on the wings.)

Additionally I see Nash and Turk as terrible fit, yet after all his whining, what's he going to say coming off the bench for Phoenix? I wonder if we may see a Steve Nash trade... (TP for the best idea.)

Any chance the C's could get Dudley? I'd go BBD for Dudley straight up, then look to use Sheed's expiring to bolster the front line.

I'm not sure what is going on there but I don't hate automatically.  I think Nash can make a lot of things work and might be able to bring their new additions in fine.  We will have to see.

As for BBD... why?  I like Dudley but he's not as good and the LAST thing we need is to trade away a big right now.  We need another in addition to BBD to help us until Perk comes back in Feb.  Trading him away would be a terrible move.

Bringing in Amudson for a S&T for Sheed's contract... now we're talking.  But idk if that's even possible.  He'd be a good fit though.

They better hope Lopez really blossoms or they will be extremely weak down low.

The Suns front office running around like headless chickens ... they don't even know what they're trying to achieve.

That is what happens when your owner is Robert Sarver.

Especially on the boards.  Not that Amare is the best rebounder but he's a pretty good one.

I think Lopez will get much better for them though.  PF is going to be weak, not a big fan of Warrick as my starting PF.

To the OP, I would suggest as my starting 5:

1 - Nash
2 - J-Rich
3 - Hill
4 - Turk
5 - Lopez

Turk isn't really a worse rebounder/defender than Warrick.  That's your most talented 5 and would be good for uptempo ball.  Not saying it's great but better.  Warrick really can't be a starter IMO.

Trading for Turk instead of resigning STAT makes about as much sense as....  oh, selling the Rajon Rondo draft pick and instead giving Marcus Banks a five-year contract.

Once Phoenix decided they could not guarantee Stoudemire more than 3 years - a fair decision given his injury history ... their offseason has actually been fairly prudent.

1. Hakim Warrick at a good price - obviously no Stoudemire, but does some of the same things on offense.  He is a good pick and roll fit.

2. Childress for nothing - the deal is too long, but Childress has some poor man's Shawn Marion components to his game.  Ugly shot, but he makes them frequently.  Very high efficiency player and good defender.

3. Frye at a reasonable price.  He's limited, but the things he does well fit the Suns perfectly.

I am not sure if the Turkoglu trade is on given that Charlotte did not hold up its end of the flip.  That deal is a bit weirder.

Really the Suns still have their exceptional depth.  They do drop off from last year - but still a playoff team in the West.  Absolutely.

Dudley for Davis is silly - they are equal as players, but they play different positions.  We need a good wing defender/shooter and Dudley can offer that.  However, not at the expense of our already thin front court, especially when things clicked with Davis - he has shown he might be ready to be a consistent force finally.

Jared Dudley is a better player than Glen Davis.

I would definitely do that trade if Phoenix was interested in it.

The Turk trade is what makes it insane, the logic of acquiring Turk for Barbosa, mitigates the intelligence of getting a couple good value guys in Frye, Warrick, and Childress.

Yeah... my thought was you'd be set starting lineup and bench wings. You have Perk back at the ASB so you can limp through the first half with Scal or Harangody as your fourth big and someone like Kurt Thomas as your third guy. Once Perk is back you have a rotation of: Rondo, Pierce, Allen, KG, Perk, JO, Dudley, Nate, and Thomas/Scal.

You'd still have the Sheed contract to trade and improve the team and I'm starting to think we've a better chance of getting a fourth or fifth big at the vet min to hold it down for Perk, and trading Sheed for another rotation big, than using Sheed's contract to get a third wing. Additionally if Sheed comes back - he provides the third/fourth big right away.

I think it will look more like:

Nash/Dragic
Richardson/Chidress
Hill/Childress/Dudley
Turkoglu/Warrick/Clark
Lopez/Frye

Thing is Phoenix runs a system where guards and wings thrive. Im not surprised to see them stock up on these guys. The certainly are weak down low but their fast pace, run and gun style works with the wings and small ball line ups.

As others have said, they don't have a glut of wings in their system.  Turk is going to play the 4 most of the time.  I don't know why this is surprising anyone.  They've played small for years.

And you know what, they may not have lost that much.  I think Amar'e is severely overrated and very much a product of Steve Nash.  Turk could make up for most of what he does.

To be fair to Phoenix, I don't think Amare had any interest in resigning with the Suns.

The Rondo thing though you're right. Aren't you glad they did, though?
