Hopefully Orlando does not match Chicago's offer on Reddick, if that happens, I think Brewer is ours.

Wouldn't this mean Rudy is much more obtainable now?

That is, if he still wants to play in America.

Perhaps. The Matthews signing is a strange one for Portland.

Rudy for Gaffney and Lafayette works, although I presume there would need to be additional sweetener to Portland.

BTW, Professor Hollinger's analysis: -2 wins for the Celtics. Because, as we all remember, Gaffney and Lafayette were huge down the stretch for us last season.

I don't think they will. Orlando is already a small market team, but has 2nd highest payroll in the nba. And they already signed Q-punk. So It'll basically be Cleveland & Boston.

Cavs could also be out of the race, if Marvin Williams/Shaq exchange happens. That said, I still don't think Celtics can afford Brewer. Look out for the clippers.

I'm guessing Portland was relatively confident Utah would match.

We could sweeten the deal with picks and cash for Rudy, or make it a larger trade with 'Sheed's contract and maybe taking back Przybilla or Miller (who we could both trade at the deadline). That would save them ~$8.5 million this season if they don't pick up the contracts of Gaffney or Lafayette. But I'd love if we could get Rudy for Gaff/Laf/picks/cash AND JO convince 'Sheed to come back.

Hollinger is clueless. I'd love to know what basketball formula can be created that deducts wins when you get something for nothing.

Every possible formula will have weird results. That's the nature of trying to quantify sports.
