What if JO shines

I know that the Perkins love is huge around here, and we all respect what he has brought to the Celtics,  but what if O'Neal completely shines as the Center of this team.  Defencivly I think he is capeable of bringing the same D that Perkins can bring and on the other end he should be a better option then Perkins is. ( You can not leave him open, like teams would do to Perk.)  I think people got the image of O'Neal from the playoffs.  O'Neal is coming off one of his better season in this league.  He played in 70 games and had the best shooting percentage last year of his career.  So my question is what if him alongside with Garnett is exactly what he needed and he is back to his all star/USA team form.  Its not far fetched, 4 pts 3 reb. and 1 Blk more is possible. Do we bench him for Perkins when he comes back ?  Does that make sence for chemestry ?

I understand he is injury prone, but if he doesn't get hurt and is putting up #'s how do you mess with that.

I'm ready to kick this season off, real excited about the JO signing I think he'll be re-energized and produce some. As far as replacing Perk in the starting lineup I dont know about that, I think we'll need Perk as starting 5 for the Howards, Bynums etc..

Against smaller centers in the league, and pretty much most teams in the league, I expect Semih Erden to be playing the whole 4th quarter.

But seriously, it depends on Perkins' comeback shape in my opinion. We'll have to see where we're at, but I wouldn't discard the option of having JO on the floor when we need points.

Anyone know his off/def rebound numbers?

I think Perkins come back will be slow as he will have to work himself into game shape. So there will be plenty of minutes for JO.  

That said I think when Perk is ready to contribute he will start.  This allows the C's to set the defensive tone early.  But I see JO on the court to finish close games, if his defense is strong, because he gives them another option on offense and forces them to not let their bigs sag to cover Rondo.  

IMO I see playing time being close to equal for the two of them, with junk/foul trouble minutes going to the 5th big (kwame, erden, thomas ect).

If such a player exists and Ainge can swing it, I would be in favor of acquiring a younger, more durable version of Jermaine O'Neal and dumping Perk.

What's up, Kiorrik?

I think he can help us on the boards, but Perk will be missed in this category.

But in the meantime, JO won't disappoint in the rebs area - nearly 2 offensive per game, and roughly 7 total in 28 min per game, according to his ESPN player profile.

I think theres a chance JO plays so well that Doc has a tough decision to make once Perk comes back. But maybe KG or JO will be injured by then and then Perk just starts with whoever is healthy. But yes I do think there is a chance JO plays extremely well for this team.

If we are off to a phenomenal start and Perk is just getting back from injury,  Doc wont rock the boat. He will let JO stay in the lineup and Perk could be a defensive boost off the bench. Although it wouldn't really matter who starts, they will split minutes equally.

Good, we need rebounds. Especially on offense. We all know Rondo plays best in transition, so this is solid.

Perk is the man but, last year we thought he was really improving his game, getting 10ppg and 8 rebs. Now perk has lowered his scoring a lot and is catching less rebounds. He gained weight(fact) and his attitude seems to be getting worse.
He knees are also a big question mark.
I don't think Perk can be the center of the future for us any more. I hope DA draft's Fab Melo next year or Donatas Motiejūnas.
