Unquestionably, this is a call you need to make if you're Ainge - but it's a deal in which you cannot give away the farm.
Also, why exactly would NO want an offensively-challenged - and yes, despite the daily attempts on this board to rewrite history, the shooting percentages are clear that Rondo is offensively-challenged - Rondo when they have Collison? It's just amusing to see people try to paint Rondo as offensively accomplished - when he stops driving the basketball in the playoffs out of abject fear he's going to the foul line, where he's worse than Shaq.
I'd rather have CP3 and his more complete game - assuming he's willing to do an extension - than Rondo, NO question.
I just don't think we have the pieces NO would want.
CoachBo, don't you remember the story lines out of this year's playoffs where they started calling the Cs stars the Big 4.
this was national media doing this. yet, you make the Rondo fan club out to be a few local hard-liners...if anything, the minority opinion now is those who believe Rondo is some sort of liability. that ship thankfully has sailed. Rondo is an All-Star, all defensive first teamer, and is signed to a very reasonable contract.
that said, I would do a deal for CP3 because he is a more complete MVP-type player. I would not give away the farm to get him, but I would consider a deal that included maybe Sheed's contract, Rondo, Baby, and Bradley....
