I saw Pippen play and I see Lebron play -- Lebron is a far better player than Scottie Pippen.

Why?

Pippen actually did quit on his team in the playoffs when they called a last minute play for someone else.

He refused to go back into the game.

His ego was more important then a playoff win.

I would take Lebron over Pippen easily.

Why do I have more respect for Pippen than LeBron?  Because Pippen 6 rings!  LeBron none!  Yes LeBron still has a lot of years left in his career, but he won't get six rings.  Pippen has six rings as the ultimate number 2.  LeBron won't.

LeBron quit on his team once, maybe even twice.

Wdleehi you really have more respect LeBron James than Scottie Pippen?

I don't use player's financial woes as arguing point.

John Thompson made a good point about that.  For many of these players, they never had money.  And the people they trust (most likely the people they grew up around) never had money.  So why is it surprising they don't know how to handle money?

Yes.

Lebron lead his team to an NBA final.  I saw him put his team on his back and defeat the Pistons in overtime.  I saw him take Boston to 7 games in 2008.  And I saw him take less money and a hit on his 'historical greatness' to try and get himself into a better chance to win a ring.  I don't think he quit this year.  I think the Celtics defense beat him.  The Celtics defense did a similar thing the Kobe, but his teammates stepped up.

Then, I see Pippen not going back into the final seconds of a playoff game because someone else was to take the last shot.  His ego was more important to winning.

And let's be honest, it is easier to win 6 titles with Jordon then it is to win one with the team Lebron has been on.

Lebron is better than Pippen because he is a much better scorer, but by going to Miami he is settling for a Pippen type role.  Before he bolted, he was looked at as a potential Michael Jordan.

One other question- who do you think Jordan would rather have playing second fiddle?  My guess is Pippen.  We'll see if Lebron makes his case.

See, I still see him playing more of the Magic Johnson role.

The ball is going to be in his hands still.

I know everybody hates Bron now for screwing over his team and taking the easy way out. But James is a far better player than Pippen was. Not even a debate here.

I'll give you that up until 08-09 I had tons of respect for LeBron.  When LeBron beat the Pistons he beat a team that tuned out their coach and just wasn't the same without Larry Brown.  Then he took a Boston Celtics team that was in the middle of figuring out playoff basketball together to 7 games.  What he did, other than game 5 against the Pistons and game 7 against us, isn't as impressive as it seems when you look into those two things.

These last two seasons and this offseason LeBron has lost all the respect ,and he had tons of respect from me, that he ever had.

If LeBron wins 6 rings, which I don't think he will, and has better stats than Pippen, and he probably will have better stats, then I'll be the first to admit that he was better than Pippen, but until then I won't and he is not.

When you are a player of LeBron's supposed caliber, you aren't supposed to go chasing rings. He went to a new team for a better chance at winning a ring. Does that mean he can't do it as the clear-cut best player on his own team? We will never know now.

LeBron quit in the playoffs. This year for sure. Last year I don't know. Pippen also had his infamous hissy-fit back in 1994. But I find them to be very different. Pippen, that was his once chance to shine. He always had to live in the shadow of Jordan, and this was HIS chance, and he wasn't getting the opportunity. Is that an excuse? No, but it's different than LeBron quitting on his team because he knew he was facing a better team.

It's been proven LeBron has the biggest ego in basketball now. Pippen had chances to leave Chicago, but willfully accepted his role as a complimentary player to Jordan. I wouldn't judge his entire career on one mistake. He was a great player in his own right, who sacrificed plenty more than LeBron.
