They are both not alpha dogs in terms of leadership.  Pippen is a way better defender and mentally tougher than LeBron.  LeBron is a stronger athlete.  I would say Pippen was the better shooter hands down.  If you put Pip on a team w/o Jordan taking all those shots and he would have put up better numbers but LeBron is a better scorer.   James is the better passer.

Both are over rated somewhat.  But no one is more over rated than LeBron James who at this point is little more than a Dominique Wilkins who can pass.

This is really comical. Pippen wouldnt even get the last shot after Jordan retired.

Lebron used to be a poor shooter, but not anymore. He can pull up a good 5 plus feet behind the arc and nail it. Pippen didnt nearly attract the defense Lebron does either.

Lebron 2 MVPs, Finals appearance without Jordan.
Pippen: 0 and 0.

Just because Wade was on the heat first, dont assume it's going to be his team for much longer.

Lebron is a much better shooter than Pippen.  And Wilkins is nowhere near Lebron's class.  I may dislike him for the rest of his career like I dislike Kobe, but maybe Lebron can be an ultra athletic Magic Johnson.

I think you need to reexamine this thread after this season. Everyone likes to knock Lebron for not having won anything. Would Pippen or Jordan for that matter have won with the teams that Lebron has been on? No way! Now, to compare Pippen and Lebron is at first glance easy but then when you get to thinking about how good Pippen was it's a little different.

I always said that MJ benefitted from having the only player in the league who could have guarded him on his own team. Pippen was a multidimensional player who was at his  best on defense. Lebron is a fantastic help defender, capabel of helping against any position, and a fantastic offensive player. Maybe not as good as Jordan but also better in ways too. Again, let's ask about this comparison now that Lebron has a player that is at least 80% of what MJ was. I think Lebron will prove he is better then Pip was.

Since when is Lebron not one of the top defenders in the NBA right now?

Did we not see what he did to Pierce's game in the playoffs?
