I mean come on. We're already short on our bench and you want to get rid of our hands-down best player off the bench! Getting rid of him would solve nothing. We would gain one and lose one. And right now i can hardly think of any FA's who are as good as BBD. Plus, once our big three is gone he could potentially start!

I'm really not getting the sense that people want to trade him that much.  However, he's really the only appealing player on this team that most of us would be willing to part with in the right deal.  The Big Three aren't going anywhere, neither is Rondo, Bradley has proven nothing, and Perk is hurt.

The only real sweetener to a deal we have is BBD.

And for as much as I like him and want to see him stay, he isn't likely a major building block for the future.  So if he can nab us something big to win #18 or a piece for the future, I'm OK with a trade.

I'm with you.  Some want to trade him with Sheed's contract to get Przbilla and Fernandez.  Fernandez is overrated and I don't see how losing BBD for Przbylla (who just came off an injury) helps the Celtics.  I'm all for getting those two, but not at the expense of one of the only young guys that can play that the Celtics have.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I don't think I'd move him for any of the remaining FAs, but I'd have no problem using him in a trade that made us better.

I do not want to envision this team with him starting, ever.

Like Jon said, he's really our only "sweetner" for any deal.  Sheed's contract is appealing, and if we combine that with BBD in a trade then it is possible that we get a better player than Davis.  Not only could the player be better, but they would probably be considered more of a building block down the road than BBD.

I do understand that if we were to trade Davis it'd have to be for another big.  Otherwise, trading him would be shooting ourselves in the foot.

Well i understand are big three aren't going anywhere. I'm talking like when they retire.

And i also don't mean we are trying to get rid of him because we don't like him, i just mean that they keep including him on trades.

But is still believe he is too valuable this year to trade.

I kind of feel the same way about Bradley. I'll see him in trade proposals and he seems to be just a throw-in, not always because his salary is important to the deal but apparently because he's done nothing for the Celts so far.

Easy answer to this question.

If we trade Baby, we can start new threads titled, "Bringing Back Baby!" and "I Want My Baby Back!"

If it means improving your roster overall than you have to do it. If you can trade BBD and the Sheed contract for two valuable role players then you have to do it. I dont want to see him go though, but he is really the only other asset we have that we could live without if it means getting better.

Because he’s fat, silly, and gets blocked all the time. It’s hard to look past all that for some people... despite his obvious talents.

My only guess is that people believe he can fetch more than his worth.

He is an underpaid hustle player who has a knack to score more than you would expect, grab rebounds you don't think he can get to, and make stops you don't think he's capable of.

I really like him on this team. The 2009 playoffs showed he can play. The 2009-10 regular-season made him a better player. The injury made him evaluate himself as a player and a person. The 2010 playoffs confirmed this.

He is capable of starting or being a 7th man. For $3+ million, he is a steal. Including him with fillers and 'Sheed's contract would be a tipping point for a star player.

Still, I'd have to be blown away to want to include him.

Hold up,are we speaking of the Baby, who started last year after KG,Powe,& Scal went down to injury only to lose our #1 seed.Who we have watched aid opponents comebacks.Baby, who in the last two starts of the season was MIA because either buried on bench or broken hand, watch Celts get off to record starts without him. Baby, who Doc went to bat for,got ejected, then had Tom Tib stick with until Atlanta completed a 20 plus comeback.(Big)Baby who guaranteed a game7 victory, and failed to provide 5 fouls only after Sheed's injury. Up by 13,he comes in...u know da rest.I won't mention that every big has gone down to injury leaving him to to grab unnecessary attention. He makes our defense worst, evidence by getting more off.rbds than def.rbds per week. When did u ever see him give an outlet pass for a fastbreak?Does His stats support a player with no ups, enough speed or agility.Does da crying, kid bumping, drooling, too slow to jump with Dwight, that he got knocked out amuse any of you?!? He is a cancer,Sheed was just on his 2nd unit & took da blame, just look at how Sheed started da season.Sheed was on fire til Baby healed. Cedric Maxwell complains how bad da spacing is on the floor, everytime Baby plays. No more to game 7 loses starring BBD!He is bad for Rondo, bad for this team. >:(

I take it you're not a Baby fan. ::)

Right about the spaces, my bad. Yeah,I don't buy Baby and his game. I'm amazed at how KG can propel this team to the Finals less than 100% healthy. Baby did improve, but not enough. I want players that make Rondo look good. Baby doesn't do that, his offensive rebounds says the team doesn't shoot well with him in there, not that he's tough.
