Pryzbilla sounds like he is on the block. With the additions of Babbitt and like Matthews the Blazers are deep at the two and the three when you include Batum and Roy as well. That means Fernandez is expendable.

Proposed trade is Pryzbilla and Fernandez for Sheed and a filler.

Looked on Espn trade machine and the filler would only have to be for like $500,000. That means basically anyone could be added.

If Pryzbilla is healthy then he would be a nice reserve big man. I would hate to give up Big Baby in this deal but I think I might do it since Fernandez is coming in return. I think he could be as good as Manu Ginobli, or close, in the right situation.

Plus Portland without an experienced GM could be vulnerable in providing the Celtics in  lop sided trade.

Thoughts would you do Sheed and BBD for Pryzbilla and Fernandez or would you only do it if there was a lesser asset going to Portland and then maybe some picks thrown in?

Potential Roster.

Rondo/Nate/Bradley/Fernandez
Ray/Bradley/Fernandez/Nate
Pierce/Fernandez/Ray
KG/Jermaine/BBD (or vet min guy if BBD is moved in deal)
Perk/Pryzbilla/Jermaine

I would def do it if somehow we can get Rudy + Pryzbilla w/out having to give up Baby.

I have liked Przybilla as a player, BUT, he may not be ready to start the season coming off some major knee surgeries. So he may not be an ideal fit.

Also, I would guess that Portland wants something of value for Fernandez. And honestly, I kind of think with our lack of depth in the front court and his propensity to play bigger in big games, Davis is not a guy to give up in the deal if we're planning on taking one last shot with these guys.
Go Celtics.

After reading the article the guy suggests his team trade two expiring contracts to get better, to grab an elite player to play with Roy and Aldridge.

They are not giving up Pryzbilla and Fernandez for a salary dump and picks.

I wish we could. Sheed and Gaffney for Joel P. and Rudy would be a steal, but I really doubt they do it.

Joe P would be a luxury come playoff time in case he isn't healed for the start of the season.  I doubt they take this deal because it seems they want something in return for Fernandez and I doubt we have anything to offer.

Could we wait until the trade deadline to deal Wallace's contract and therefore grab someone off of a team that thought they would contend but isn't close?

With the addition of O'Neal, I don't think Pryzbilla should be the target right now.  I like him, but I don't see the minutes for him come playoff time.

Meanwhile, the article makes no sense. Why would Przybilla take a buyout of his contract while injured? And what does this guy imagine Miller and Joel are going to net? A 'star'? Chris Paul? Is he serious? At that price total, it'd net someone else's dirty laundy, or nothing.

To be fair it is in fashion over the last year or so to become overly delusional about what expiring contracts and cap space are worth.

John Canzano is back in "search for anything to criticize the Blazers organization" mode.

It was nice there for awhile. He gave it a rest. Was happy with Pritchard and Roy coming in. Now it's back to mud slinging.

I'd prefer Oden.

The Blazers are over the cap and have a history of letting guys go. Fernandez is unhappy and wants out. The Blazers don't have the minutes to satisfy him. They have too much depth if that's possible. Again the Blazers typically let guys walk and expire like Lafrentz. Sheed instantly expires and wipes salary cap away. They get something for Fernandez in the way of future picks, etc. The summer of Lebron is over. Teams aren't as worried about expiring contracts anymore as they were before. At least not anymore than Portland is. Portland also likes their young pf in cunningham. What Pryzbilla provides is redundant at this point with Oden and Camby in there. I could definitely see them letting go of Pryzbilla. Fernandez as well if you can get future considerations like picks - which Portland loves - because he is unhappy and unafraid to voice it. Look at Portland's team they don't really need these guys and I think they are both on the outside looking in.

A history of letting guys go? I think they have a history of spending a lot. Every year they are in the market to buy picks. Their owner is one of the richest people on the planet. Don't think they worry about the luxury tax if they are going to be competing for a championship.
