Steve Kerr freed up a lot of cap last 3 seasons. Now that he's gone, Phx is running wild again. Hedo will improve the team, but in the long run will it be worth it for a 1st or 2nd round exist.

Yeah and the Suns don't need us to make it happen they are using part of the large trade exception for Amare they received 12.2 million to make it happen.

The Raptors would want to involve us. Unless they want to pay Barbosa $14.7 the next two seasons for no apparent reason, they can move him for 'Sheed.

Hedo's $44 million terrible contract gets replaced with Dudley's $2.2 million (don't have to extend qualifying offer).

That's why the trade works for them.

PHX replaces Dudley and Barbosa with Childress and Hedo. Works for them.

Just don't see why Boston does it, but I was just responding to someone saying that "Barbosa to Boston" appears dead.

Good luck with that contract, Phoenix.

That team is headed for garbageville.

If they didn't have some sort of interest in Barbosa, then why do this deal? Yes, getting rid of Hedo is a priority, but why take back a player you have no interest in acquiring? Plus, I'm sure $14m for 2 seasons doesn't seem like all that much considering what they're moving in Hedo.

If they were that interested in not getting Barbosa, I'd like to think there would already be a 3rd team involved by now.

And like I said before, I'd MUCH rather taking Dudley in that deal than Barbosa. No contest there, imo.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the Celtics side (if that's what you mean by Dudley over Barbosa, for the C's).

The trade itself works because the only reason Toronto is looking to move Hedo is to shed salary. If that's the case, $2.2M is a lot better than $14.7M, especially when, like you yourself said, Dudley may actually be more valuable.

I'm assuming their are very few teams willing to take on Hedo's contract. I doubt the Raptors GM came into this offseason trying to think of a way to get Babosa on his roster. This is the deal out there that saves them the most money right now. Bringing in Boston saves them a heck of a lot more.

As for Boston getting Dudley only, not possible. Salaries don't match up.

wow...right when I thought the Nets were turning into the dumbest team in the league, the Suns step right up to the plate.

No wonder so many GMs are getting canned in the NBA...half of them should be running a fantasy league, let alone a real NBA team.

I like this move for the Suns (except adding Childress).

Once again we're left over and another target is off the market... doesn't look good.

Hedo Turkoglu would be a terrible fit in Phoenix.

Nash won't give him the ball enough for Hedo to be effective there.

On another note, this probably means Atlanta is keeping Marvin Williams.

Or at least, that he is not available in a salary dump. Now, that they've parted ways with Josh Childress and have no replacement for Marvin.

I can see Hedo doing very well in Phoenix.  Plus Barbosa hasn't been very impressive lately.

Wide open 3's on the break with Hedo being the trailer isn't going to allow Hedo to be effective?

I think this is a great fit. Toronto should be bad this year. So should the Knicks and Nets. Wouldn't be shocked if we were the only team to come out of the Atlantic.
DKC:  Rockets

Hedo Turkoglu will be a role player with the Suns akin to his days with the Spurs and Kings rather than his performances with SVG's Orlando Magic team where he was a bonafide star.

By effective, I mean as a star player who is worth $10 million a year which I think Hedo Turkoglu can be in the right situation (like he had in Orlando) ... and I don't think Phoenix offers that because of Steve Nash.

I don't see this ending well. We already saw what happened when Hedo had to work off the ball with Jacks and Calderon. Maybe Nash is retiring?
