As I watch Tony slowly walk away, like many, I can't help but wonder who is left for us to get (free agency, trades, etc.).  Not only to replace Tony but to fill some holes in our roster.

I know he's been mentioned before, but with Portland's rediculous offer to Wes Matthews and alpha dog Brandon Roy already in place Rudy must certainly be expendable, right?

He always seemed to be out of place in their system anyway.

After all he is only 25.  At 6'6, 185 he is a career 39% shooter from behind the arc and 85% from the free throw line.

He's cheap at $1.1 million, pretty athletic (can see him running with Rondo) and a decent backup for Ray and potential heir apparent at the 2.

We would need to trade for him (maybe Sheed's contract), but with TA gone, Morrow and Miller signed, who is left for us to acquire as a wing?

Again he must be expendable now and I could certainly see a role for him on this team.

Can't we just sign him for vet min?

I mean do we have to use the Sheed contract for him? Because if I am not mistaking Sheed's contract comes around to 6-7 mil...so we can't just use that on Rudy unless we are getting someone else in return as well.

Rudy is under contract with Portland so we can't sign him, he'd have to be traded for.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we have to pay a portion of Sheed's contract and doesn't it hit the books?

Well, the C's have several small assets they could use.
 1. Oliver Lafayette, non-guaranteed contract
 2. Tony Gaffney, non-guaranteed contract
 3. Luke Harangody, unsigned 2nd rounder

And the big one in Sheed's retiring contract.

If the Trailblazers would take a salary dump, they could take Lafayette and Gaffney (edit: has to be both to match), and if they insist on some return, we could throw in Harangody, or a pick.

Not a bad idea.  Would rather have Rudy than Oliver and Gaffney.

Oh, btw, one reason for the hold up in trades might be that there is a trade restriction on Lafayette and Gaffney until 7/13. so, they couldn't be included in deals until Tuesday.

Tuesday might be the day! :)

No incentive to trade a player like Rudy to save a million dollars and change.

They maybe give him up if we eat one of their bad contracts. Unfortunately, I don't see any they need to shed. Their worst contracts are Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla, both of which expire after the season, so they probably aren't too desperate to rid themselves of those.

IDK what trade would make sense with them right now.

They wouldn't wanna give up Camby would they?

Camby and Fernandez for 'Sheed, BBD, Gaff/Laf/Luke, and a second-rounder?

Hmmm, not sure if that's true, but that is a possibility.  Very good thinking, I don't think I have heard that before.

With wings like Roy, now Wes Matthews,Nicholas Batum and Luke Babbit he seems expendable to me.

Just checked, it is true.

They can't be traded until July 13

Assuming they just resigned Camby, I don't see them parting with him. He's a good vet to have around to help Oden, and to step in when Oden is injured.
