Do you have a source for that? Cuz from what I gather, they like him... It would be a coup if they'd be willing to deal him to Boston...

As I watch Tony slowly walk away, like many, I can't help but wonder who is left for us to get (free agency, trades, etc.).  Not only to replace Tony but to fill some holes in our roster.

I know he's been mentioned before, but with Portland's rediculous offer to Wes Matthews and alpha dog Brandon Roy already in place Rudy must certainly be expendable, right?

He always seemed to be out of place in their system anyway.

After all he is only 25.  At 6'6, 185 he is a career 39% shooter from behind the arc and 85% from the free throw line.

He's cheap at $1.1 million, pretty athletic (can see him running with Rondo) and a decent backup for Ray and potential heir apparent at the 2.

We would need to trade for him (maybe Sheed's contract), but with TA gone, Morrow and Miller signed, who is left for us to acquire as a wing?

Again he must be expendable now and I could certainly see a role for him on this team.

Well, the C's have several small assets they could use.
 1. Oliver Lafayette, non-guaranteed contract
 2. Tony Gaffney, non-guaranteed contract
 3. Luke Harangody, unsigned 2nd rounder

And the big one in Sheed's retiring contract.

If the Trailblazers would take a salary dump, they could take Lafayette or Gaffney, and if they insist on some return, we could throw in Harangody, or a pick.

No incentive to trade a player like Rudy to save a million dollars and change.

They maybe give him up if we eat one of their bad contracts. Unfortunately, I don't see any they need to shed. Their worst contracts are Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla, both of which expire after the season, so they probably aren't too desperate to rid themselves of those.

IDK what trade would make sense with them right now.

They wouldn't wanna give up Camby would they?

Camby and Fernandez for 'Sheed, BBD, Gaff/Laf/Luke, and a second-rounder?

Rondo/Nate
Ray/Rudy/AB
Pierce/Rudy
KG/JO
Camby/Kwame/(Perk)

I would love it if we got Camby and Rudy for that package.
Assuming they just resigned Camby, I don't see them parting with him. He's a good vet to have around to help Oden, and to step in when Oden is injured.

I don't think he's available either, just wondering.

And they may have Wesley Matthews on their roster, maybe even unexpectedly.

Then that may be motivation to save some money.

Maybe they believe this is the year Oden stays healthy?

Heck, I may even consider including Erden, but then it may be too lopsided (sarcasm, of course).

That was my understanding as well - that Batum fit heavily into their plans. Although they're throwing money at Wesley Matthews so...

Man, Gaffney and Layfayette plus a future pick would be a huge pick up for us. We would still have Rasheed and possibly Baby to trade, too.

I'm hoping there's at least a tiny chance that is possible.

I'm honestly starting to think that Portland just likes messing with Utah's finances... I mean, they made a similar move for Milsap last year even with Aldridge in the fold.

Sheed/Baby/draft pick for Przybilla/Fernandez & Pendergraph or Cunningham makes quite a bit of sense for both teams, especially if the Wes Matthews signing goes unmatched by Utah.

Portland would pop over the tax threshold by multiple millions with Matthews on board, and even though their owner has deep pockets, I'm sure he'd like to swap Przybilla's high-priced damaged goods for Baby's cheap health and Sheed's free money.

Rudy obviously fits a huge need as the back-up shooting wing on our bench, but Przybilla would give us a massive 4-headed monster at the big spots by the time the playoffs roll around, with Perkins and Przybilla swallowing up the middle and KG and JO playing the high post and roaming on defense.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Yes I would like him.  Actually I'd like anyone still in their prime!  I guess Tony was too young for Ainge.

They're not giving up Camby.  Przbylla(sp) and Oden are just coming back from injuries.  Plus, I don't want to give up our only young bench player we have left that can actually play.

Oops.  My bad.  I was thinking of Martel Webster.

I'll throw another TP your way for giving me hope on Rudy. He's one of my favorite non-Celtics, but I didn't see a way of it happening.

Oh, btw, one reason for the hold up in trades might be that there is a trade restriction on Lafayette and Gaffney until 7/13. so, they couldn't be included in deals until Tuesday.

Tuesday might be the day! :)

Hmmm, not sure if that's true, but that is a possibility.  Very good thinking, I don't think I have heard that before.

Just checked, it is true.

They can't be traded until July 13

Interesting. So basically -- a package of the two of them plus a 1st round pick would work. That's a deal that could make sense for both teams.
