He's never looked cut up like Ray or Tony Allen but he looks pretty lean with his shirt off- tiny waist and very wide shoulders.

Last fall when the season started, Paul was in some of the best shape I've ever seen him in .... definitely the best shape of the last 5 years-or-so. I guess that would make the answer yes, you must be imagining it.

I also think Pierce puts the work in at the gym, but he must not eat right or take the proper supplements.

I remember him saying he liked his fried chicken and what not.

Anyone who works out and doesn't take care of his body while out of the gym will not look like Ray Allen or Ben Wallace.

Agreed.

I used to buy the "it's his build" excuse, but not anymore. I think he puts in the work in the weight room and on the treadmill, but he just isn't eating right. So technically/physically he's not out of shape he's just has a higher body fat percentage because of what he's eating. I got no problem with it, but I think it might catch up with him.

Paul Pierce in the last 2 years has totally changed his lifestyle according to him. He has changed the way he treats his body including how he eats. He has started a program to get kids accross the country eating right and excercising properly. I think he was a little chubby from likr 05-08. The last couple of years though he is much trimmer.

Either way we know the guy works hard. When he was younger he also partied pretty hard.

He seems all grown up now though. Enough speculation. Here is some proof (If we can take the Truth at his word)! ;)

Hasn't been in shape for years? Are you kidding me?

Do you remember when they came back after the championship year and opened up against Cleveland? He was so quick and lean he literally faked Lebron out of his jock strap on two different drives to the basket.

No that was sarcasm. of course he's in great shape it's just his build.  He's thick boned.  The comment was more geared towards the same concept being brought every year and it's never close to being true.

I wonder sometimes about people questioning the size of some of our players, BBD included.  Sort of bizarre to be honest.

You know you want to say it.

Let's not turn a simple discussion into perverted accusations, please...

What because I think it's bizarre that so many posters comment on the size of our players it's perverted?  Are you new here and missed the last 100000 posts about this?

One of these posts comes up just about every single season about Paul. ::)  Give it a rest. Oh, and yes you are imagining it.

What evidence?  Those two pictures you posted where you can't even see anything but his arms?  Please. If you didn't want to be corrected maybe you shouldn't have posted your theory.

As has been already pointed out to you this isn't a new topic.  Every year someone wants to bring up the Pierce is fat and doesn't work hard enough topic, despite all the quotes from people who would really know, from Pitino, to O'Brien, to Doc to Danny, saying just the opposite  .
Not everybody was blessed with the perfect body.  But Pierce was blessed with a great work ethic and an extremley strong lower body, even while still in college, which may not look asthetically "thin" but works perfectly for his game.

I do remember watching Pierce one season- I think '06 or '05 and then watching him the season immediately following and he looked like he put on 20lbs of muscle... It seemed that in that one summer he got huge... especially his chest. Past summers it seemed a more gradual build.

TP, good post.

I remember when Pierce was co-hosting 'Mike and Mike' the summer they won the championship, and they talked about his diet. Glad to hear he has changed his view on that. It will definitely prolong his career.

He is a smart player, and a great philanthropist.

I believe him.
