In the short term, there is no way to for the Cav's to win.
If Gilbert wants to prevent Lebron from winning a title,  he should pull a Chris Wallace trade with one of the contenders.

If Gilbert goes for a Varejao & Powe to C's for Sheed's expiring  that could get us over the top.  It works on the ESPN NBA trade machine

Do you think he want to hit the bottom of the barrel without trying to win some games first?  If so, I would salivate at the thought of getting Varajao.  He is a championship level piece as a big man.

He can leak the Delonte and Lebron's mom video to the internet.

Why Powe?  At that point, there would be KG, Perk, Oneal, Davis and sideshow.

I rather they throw in Moon, West or Parker.

yes.  if he's serious about the Cavs winning a title before Lebron, then he need Lebron to never win a title, because that's how long it's going to take Cleveland, more than the rest of Lebron's career.  Therfore, he needs to take some short-term steps, called Miami Title Prevention Steps, to make his promise come true....

STEPS:

STEP 1.  Varejao to Celtics for Sheed's contract.

Celtics win next two titles with best defense in history (Perk, Varejao, O'Neal, Garnett, etc..)
By then, Kobe's too old to put the Lakers over the top, especially with Ok. City and Portland challenges, so:

STEP 2.  Help Ok. City and Portland Trailblazers as much as possible.  With a couple of pieces both of those teams will be unbeatable (Oden's health necessary in Portland's case)

STEP 3.  Evaluate landscape and continue with Miami Title Prevention Plan.

.......He may not like it.  Reality bites.

I like it wiley!  The other strategy Gilbert could employ is to simply go after the best big men out there to keep them away from Miami.  Bosh is a PF, and they literally have no one else to play the 4 or 5.  with on true center and no point guard to speak of (Chalmers is just ok), they are not winning any rings.

You're right!  His starting lineup could be:

Shaq
Brad Miller
K. Brown
Ben Wallace
and Joe Smith at the point!
