Josh Childress?

Is there a way we can sign or trade for Childress?

Haven't really heard anything about him just know he was/is a FA this offseason.

If anyone could provide maybe some linkage or info I would appreciate it.

I don't think Childress is a good fit here. The second wing off the bench needs to be a a great shooter first, and hold his own on D.

Young and athletic with decent size is exactly what the C's need on the wings, and I'm confident Childress will be an acceptable jump shooter and defender after being forced to play more disciplined ball in Europe for a couple  years.

The Hawks would likely agree to a sign and trade for Sheed's contract + a future draft pick.

Atlanta has luxury tax concerns so they are unlikely to be able to re-sign Childress themselves. Plus, they have very little negotiating power as result because nobody believes they'll match the offer sheet. So, a sign and trade to someone who doesn't have their MLE is a perfect scenario for Atlanta so long as they get something out of it (future draft pick).

I have no interest in Childress at this point in time though. I want to see if his game has improved over in Europe before committing $33 million over five years to him. I doubt it has improved enough to be worth that amount.

From ATL, I like both Childress and Marvin Williams.   Either would be a good backup to Pierce.

I think they would trade Williams to then sign Childress to replace him at a lower price.


I don't think there would have to be a 1st round pick thrown in.  Most likely a conditional 2nd.

Idk.  Being on a team like the Celtics with our players can change a lot of people attitudes.

 Just look at NateRob did you think he had the "fire" while he was in New York and came to Boston?

I don't think he did, but under our teams presence and Doc I think he got it.
