I'd love to see us go after Reddick.  The way he played against us, made me respect him. Played great D on Ray, and wasn't afraid to step up and take shots.

What would he cost?  Full MLE?  Would Orlando Match?

It sounds like the Magic intend to match any offer at or below the MLE.

So, Redick is not attainable.

Quote
"Our intention now is to match (any offer he receives),'' Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said during a Summer League break. "We obviously place a great value on him. How far we're willing to go, that's an ownership decision, but we value him and what he does.''

"Everybody assumed last year, for the same reason, that we wouldn't match on Marcin, but obviously we put a great value on him,'' Van Gundy said. "I'm not worried what J.J. might get from someone because it still will be our decision to make. Now if he gets a max offer, $17 million, I don't know. But our intention now is to match.''

Rondo
Ray
Pierce
Garnett
Perkins (Once he's back)

Steve Francis
Allen Iverson
Tmac
Jermaine O'neal
Ben Wallace

Trade to Miami Sheed and Harangody, for JO in a sign and trade. They get another second round pick that they can sign to a minimum contract to fill out the roster. Sign Steve Francis and Ben Wallace to vet min contracts. MLE for Tmac and Iverson.  Easy.

Steve Francis?? LOL. Really? He hasn't been relevant in like 5 years. I doubt he would follow the team concept of defense first also. As for Iverson? Hell no. Not a good fit at all. Too old, too self-centered, just no. We need defensive minded players, not washed up former leading-scorer players.

As for people I'd like to see fill out the roster....
Pick up JO and Kwame for backup centers (JO could start until Perk is healthy. Bradley will do just fine for Rondo's backup. I mean Rondo plays 40min/game. Do we really need a backup point guard for a couple Mil? No, we have bigger needs to spend that money on. Resign TA, that would be huge. I do think we need a backup swingman. Solution: Rudy Fernandez or similar. Hopefully S&T for Rudy. Then either a good SG to spell Ray Ray or a PF. Miller Miller for the MLE?

This would give us...
PG: Rondo/Bradley
SG: Ray/TA
SF: Pierce/Rudy
PF: Garnett/Miller/Harangody
C: Perk/JO/Kwame

By the way, O'Neal hasn't played more than 70 games in any of the last 6 season, and has never played a full, 82-game season. I don't even think it's a good idea going into the season without someone like Kwame Brown as insurance.

Kwame would be perfect in that position for us after J.O'neal and when Perk gets back we will be super long. J. Oneal 6 ft 11", Kwame Brown 6ft 11", Kendrick Perkins 6ft 10" and Kevin Garnett 7ft and Big Baby...am I being too greedy by asking for Mike Miller now? Or trade Sheed's deal for Beasley who is 6'9" or 6'10" and we will be super duper long...lol
Disagree.  Not long, just average or perhaps still a bit-undersized.  The only true 7-footer would be KG.  Beasley and Baby are undersized.

Rondo/Nate/O. Lafayette
Ray/(1)/A. Bradley
Pierce/(2)/Harangody
KG/BBD/(3)
Perk/JOneal/Erden

(1), (2), (3) filled in with the remainder of the MLE not used on JO and trade with Sheed's contract.
Celtics fan for life.

The Cs are not making an offer to Reddick for the MLE. Orlando would laugh then take every second of the time alotted before matching. Meanwhile, every other potential fit will be signed by other teams. The Cs can't get him, and they know it.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
1. Rondo/Nate(1)/Lafeyette
2. Ray/TA/Bradley
3. Pierce/T-Mac(2)/Gaffney (3)
4. KG/BBD/Gody
5. Perk/JO/Semi

(1). Nate comes back for as much or less than he made this year after no team is willing to overpay him. If a team is willing, we go with TA and Bradley both seeing time at the 1.
(2). T-Mac is signed for the vet min. If we have money left over from the O'Neal signing then we go after Outlaw, Gomes, or Butler.
(3) If we are able to pull off a trade with Sheed's contract for a guy like Morrow Gaffney probably doesn't make the team.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I think Shawn Kemp and C-Webb are available.

Shawn Bradley, anyone?

Haha I guess I figured people would look at the bench five and understand it was a comment tongue-in-cheek.

Anyways, really like the JO signing, I think he'll be much better on this C's team surrounded by vets and a winning attitude. JO also shot a career best FG% last year and still plays pretty good D. He had a really rough playoff series going against our D, especially Perk, so I think perception of him on this board is down a little.

And since our MLE is now gone, we're left with just Sheed's contract and minimum salaries to fill out the roster, yeah? Let's see what Danny can do. I'd personally take a chance on Beasley in a second.
