If this is true, it's a phenomenal deal and potentially a bigger sacrifice than PP.  He very well could've gotten more if he waited around to see what team got silly.

And don't underestimate the two years.  Three years from now the C's really only are committed to Rondo, PP, and Avery Bradley.  If they want to make some noise in the FA market, they may be able to.

Or we can take advantage of teams trying to get under the cap and have massive amounts of expiring money with KG and Ray at that trade deadline.

True.  And in case it got buried in the last page, here's the Spears link:

It's a terrific deal, and a sacrifice by Ray to remain in Boston.

Nice. But I'm confused, why didn't Ray host a show on ESPN about this?

good one. a tp for you.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

This is great news...the deal's only 2 years, and at a fairly reasonable price...the drop in Ray and Paul's salaries now more than offsets the increase in Rondo's, which means we're more likely to look at trading Sheed for a midlevel guy and still using this year's MLE for a rotation guy or two, and we still are looking very flexible for the '12 offseason.  Good salary juggling by Danny at the very least, and keeps us in the championship mix at the most.

And this means Ray will get to break the 3-pt record as a Celtic, it'll be nice to see that too.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Like both the length and money.  A win for the Celtics and a pat on the back to Ray.

Ray is a class act all the way.  He like this area, his kid can get top medical treatment in Boston, UConn connection.  You see my friends, there are some things in life more important than basketball.

Very nice deal for the C's; nice of Ray to forgo the extended FA hunt and give Danny time to focus on adding the last 2 or 3 pieces.  It means we will have the starters from the 1st 5 & 1/4 games of the finals back for $5 mil less.

Starters: Rubio, Danny Green, Durant, Markieff Morris, Capela

What did Ray and Rondo combine to make in 2010? What will they combine to make in 2011? I believe it's a wash (or very close anyway).

LOL I know. It's making me a little nervous.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.
